Business Tips to Bark About – How to Keep Your Camp Thriving

With franchisees enjoying national brand recognition from the moment they open their Camp’s doors, there are plenty of perks to joining the Camp Bow Wow Pack. But while we’ve done plenty of the legwork for you, there are still a few things you can do to make your Camp the best of the best.

Hire tried and true dog lovers.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t smile at the sight of a puppy rolling around on the grass, but not everyone who likes dogs is fit to actually work with them. If you’re currently on the hunt for dog trainers, don’t forget to ask any interviewee you meet these seven questions!

Advertise what puts your Camp above the rest.

Sure, there are other pet boarding facilities out there, but none of them come close to offering the convenience and care that Camp Bow Wow does. With private cabins for each pooch and strict limits on how many Campers a Counselor can care for at once, we truly are the #1 name in pet care!

Cater to your two-legged audience.

We know every dog in town wants to come to Camp, but it’s up to their owners to make the final call and bring them in. Whether through social media efforts or in person, never stop connecting with your potential audience. But don’t stop there, take it a step further and ask current customers for feedback and suggestions.

Educate your audience.

We know that bringing your dog to Camp is a safer and healthier alternative to leaving them at home, but not every pet parent knows that.

Maintain your Camp’s appearance.

From your storefront to the private cabins, always keep things neat and tidy — your two and four-legged customers expect it! And because we’re a group that likes to play as hard as we work, think about going the extra mile and decorating for holidays!

Give back to your community.

At our corporate level, we’re thrilled to run the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides medical treatment to dogs in need. In 2017, we were lucky enough to give 89 tail-wagging dogs a new “leash” on life. But the good deeds don’t stop there. We also encourage every Camp owner to become involved in their own charitable work.

Appreciate your Counselors.

Your Camp Counselors are the people who keep your Camp running smoothly, so don’t forget to always show your appreciation for their hard work! Sniffing around for ideas? Check out what Camp Bow Wow Coppell in Texas did for their teacher, Tracy Allard, after she taught her 100th class!

Have fun at work.

We’re not pulling your tail — owning a Camp is as fun as it is rewarding! For many of our franchisees, getting to leave their 9-5 and spend their days playing with dogs was a dream come true!
