1. Bring your pet to those in need.
Dogs do a lot more than just bring a smile to our faces. Many studies show that dogs can actually help people recover faster and improve someone’s mental health. The next time you and your pup have a few minutes of downtime, consider visiting a homeless shelter, hospital, or soup kitchen and spreading the love! Just make sure to get permission from the business or charity you’re interested in visiting.
2. Let Fido pick out charitable gifts.
Animal shelters are always in need of food, blankets, towels, dog beds, toys, soap, plastic bags…the list goes on and on really. The next time you grab a treat for your dog, let him pick out something else that you’ll then donate to a local shelter.
3. Choose cruelty products for you and your pup.
From makeup to shampoo, many of the beauty and grooming products we use every day are tested on animals before hitting the shelves. According to the Humane Society, nearly 500,000 animals suffer and/or die each year due to cosmetic testing. This year, learn a little more about the products you use and vow to only purchase cruelty-free products.
4. Make inspirational cards with your pooch.
Remember how fun it was to get cards in the mail as a kid? Forget emails and send someone a handwritten card from you and your furry friend. While Fido can’t help with the words inside, you can use non-toxic or water-based paint to add his paw print to the front of the card.
5. Donate to the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation®
