Bow Wow Buddies Feature Story: Truly!

Today, the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation would like to introduce you to Truly, a 1-year-old Golden Retriever from Concord, North Carolina.

Here is Truly’s story:

Truly is a ball of energy and lovable gal all-around. (Just look at that smile!) She was originally born to a breeder and diagnosed with a condition known as ectopic ureters. This means that try as she might, poor Truly was unable to control her bladder at times. Due to her urinary incontinence, Truly’s breeder was forced to surrender her to a rescue group, owned by her current pet parents, when she was merely months old.

As a young pup, Truly received a surgery aimed at correcting the issue, which unfortunately, was unsuccessful. Still, her parents and rescuers didn’t give up hope, and inquired about what else could be done to help Truly live a normal, happy life. The answer? Wait until Truly was a year old to have a different surgery and procedure performed. While her parents were hopeful, the cost of an additional surgery certainly presented a problem.

Cue the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation!

Knowing they were in need of financial assistance, Truly’s parents turned to the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation — and of course, they delivered! With their help, Truly was able to get the grant money she needed to have her second surgery performed when she came of age. Thanks to Bow Wow Buddies, the procedure was recently performed by the caring staff at Poplar Animal Hospital. Today, she’s a happy-go-lucky gal, living merrily in her new home with her fur-ever family!

“ When we found out we were accepted for the grant, my husband and I cried. We were so happy to know we would be able to afford Truly’s surgery.”

– Lizanne, Truly’s Mom

Here at Camp Bow Wow, caring for and loving dogs is what we do best, and the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is a strong reflection of that philosophy.

Each year, many pets are denied access to urgent medical care, simply because their parents, foster parents, or rescuers cannot afford the climbing costs of emergency veterinary treatment out of pocket. The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is happy to assist dogs and their families in their time of need. With help from donations, we’re able to award grants of up to $2,500 for necessary medical treatments for dogs in need across North America.

Lend a paw and donate today to help dogs like Truly get a second leash on life!
