At Camp Bow Wow, we strive to make sure every pup feels welcomed and comfortable, and it starts from the moment we meet your furry best friend through our interview process. We require every potential Camper to undergo the interview process to assess how well they adapt to the active camp environment.
We want to ensure your pup is well-suited for an open play atmosphere before they join us for daily and extended stays. We require interviews for every pup at every Camp Bow Wow location to ensure the safety of all Campers and Camp Counselors. Here’s what to expect on interview day for your beloved dog!
New Camper Qualifications
First, see if your pup is eligible for Camp by reviewing our new Camper qualifications:
- At least four months old.
- Spayed or neutered if seven months or older.
- Up-to-date on Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella vaccinations. Other vaccinations may be required.
- Flea/tick-free and in general good health.
- Wear a quick release collar and name tag.
- Dog and people-friendly.
The Interview Process
After receiving your Camper Application and meeting your furry friend, we’ll take their picture for their file and introduce them to the open play yard. We group play yards by dog size and temperament, and our Camp Counselors will assess which yard is the best fit for your pup. Some smaller dogs tend to gravitate towards the big pups, while some senior dogs find themselves relaxing in the small yard. The acclimation to the play yards will start slowly, with only a few pups brought in at a time to ensure your dog is comfortable. Slowing adding dogs around your pup one at a time allows for a more comfortable transition into the Pack.
Lastly, we’ll provide you with a report card detailing your dog’s behavior and temperament throughout the interview process. Our Camp Counselors will inform you of how comfortable your dog was, if they made any friends at Camp, and any details of their first day with us.
