Special Needs & Senior/Anxious Dogs

  • Yes, live webcams can be very reassuring for pet parents with anxious pups. All of our Camp Bow Wow locations offer webcams in the play yards so you can check in, see how your dog is settling in, and watch them make friends in real time. That extra visibility can give you peace of mind while we focus on keeping your Camper calm, safe, and supported.
  • Structured enrichment can help anxious dogs feel more secure and engaged. Activities like puzzle toys, scent games, training sessions, and calm, positive interactions with staff can redirect worry into mental and physical exercise. Camp Bow Wow will work with you to understand your dog and incorporate enrichment that supports their confidence and comfort.

  • A temperament test (often called a Camper interview) is a guided evaluation that helps us understand how your dog responds to new people, dogs, and environments. For reactive dogs, we move slowly, introduce them carefully, and observe their body language to see what makes them comfortable or stressed. This helps us decide if group play is appropriate and, if so, how to support them safely.
  • Many boarding facilities, including Camp Bow Wow locations, can administer routine medications according to your instructions. Meds typically need to be provided in the original containers with clear dosing directions. Be sure to discuss your dog’s medical needs with your local Camp in advance so we can confirm what’s possible and ensure a safe, consistent routine.
  • Our team is trained to watch for signs of stress, fear, or over-arousal and to step in early. Depending on your dog’s needs, we may adjust their playgroup, provide breaks, use quieter spaces, or recommend smaller amounts of daycare at a time. In some cases, we may suggest training or enrichment options to help your dog build skills and confidence alongside or instead of group play.
  • Dog daycare can be a wonderful option for many senior pups, especially those who enjoy company and light activity. Gentle socialization, mental stimulation, and loving human interaction can brighten their days - as long as the environment allows for rest, comfort, and individual attention. We’ll tailor your senior dog’s Camp experience so they can enjoy the fun without overdoing it.
