Every dog at Camp Bow Wow St. Clair Shores goes through a structured intake process before joining the play yard. Our safety standards aren’t a checklist we run through once. They’re part of how every day runs, from morning drop-off to afternoon pick-up.
The Camper Interview & Play Group Placement
Before any new dog joins Day Camp, they complete a Camper Interview. Our Certified Camp Counselors® assess temperament, play style, and comfort in a group setting, then place each dog in the right play group based on size, energy level, and personality. That matching process helps keep open play enjoyable and safe for every Camper in the yard.
Daily Check-In & Rest Breaks
Every dog receives a Snout-to-Tail Assessment at check-in to help us spot potential health concerns early. Scheduled rest breaks throughout the day help prevent overstimulation and keep energy levels balanced, so dogs can finish the day happy and ready for a good night’s sleep, not wound up or worn out.
Counselor Training & Vaccination Requirements
Our Certified Camp Counselors® are extensively trained in dog behavior, pet CPR, and pet first aid. All Campers must have passed the Camper Interview, be spayed or neutered (if seven months of age or older), and be current on vaccinations including Bordetella. Learn about our Bordetella policy. These requirements help protect dogs in our care from contagious illness and support the kind of group dynamics that make open play work.

You can usually purchase a Camp Bow Wow daycare package directly at your local Camp, and many locations also allow you to buy or reload packages online or through the Camp Bow Wow app. Once you’re set up as a customer and your pup has completed their evaluation, you can choose the package size you want and complete payment through your preferred method. Your package balance will then be tracked automatically each time your pup checks in for daycare.

Daycare package days are generally valid year-round, but some Camps may have blackout dates, limited hours, or special policies during major holidays and peak seasons. Certain holidays may be reserved primarily for boarding Campers, or may carry different rates. Your local Camp will let you know how packages apply on holidays so you can plan ahead for busy times.

Most Camp Bow Wow locations recommend or require a reservation to guarantee a daycare spot, even if you have a package. Your package covers the cost of the day, but a reservation helps ensure we can safely accommodate your pup in the appropriate play group. You can typically reserve through your local Camp, by phone, online, or via the Camp Bow Wow app.
