What Your Dog’s Typical Day at Camp Looks Like

When your dog stays with us for dog boarding in Castro Valley, they enjoy a structured schedule designed to balance play, rest, enrichment, and personalized care. Our daily routine helps Campers feel comfortable and engaged while giving pet parents peace of mind that their pup is having a fun and fulfilling experience.

  • Morning Potty Breaks and Check-Ins: Each day begins with potty breaks, wellness check-ins from our team, and breakfast for dogs who follow an early feeding schedule.
  • Supervised Group Play: Dogs join carefully selected play groups where they can socialize, play games, explore, and interact with fellow Campers under the watchful eye of our Camp Counselors.
  • Enrichment Activities and Toy Rotation: Throughout the day, we introduce different toys and activities to keep dogs mentally stimulated, curious, and entertained.
  • Scheduled Water Breaks and Rest Periods: Regular hydration breaks and quiet downtime help prevent overstimulation and ensure dogs stay comfortable and refreshed.
  • Evening Wind-Down and Cabin Time: As the day comes to a close, Campers enjoy dinner, individual attention, rest in their cozy cabins, and any needed medications before settling in for the night.

This predictable routine helps dogs feel secure during their stay and supports a smooth transition for first-time boarders. By combining activity, socialization, and relaxation throughout the day, we create a positive dog boarding experience that keeps Campers happy, comfortable, and ready for another day of fun.

Camp Bow Wow San Ramon Enrollment Process Made Easy

Our booking process makes dog boarding in Castro Valley simple and stress-free. From reservation to pick-up, we focus on comfort, convenience, and communication for both owners and dogs. Here’s how your pup’s stay with us works:

  • Quick & friendly reservation process – Call or book online to reserve your pup’s spot. We’ll guide you through anything needed, such as up-to-date vaccine records, which are required for every guest to comply with Alameda County animal care guidelines.
  • Camper interview & intro day – For first-time guests, we schedule a complimentary temperament assessment. This helps us ensure a comfortable group dynamic and tailor care to individual needs.
  • Drop-off & settle in – Our welcoming team greets every guest and helps your dog transition smoothly into their cabin and play group.
  • Easy pick-up – When you return, we’ll fill you in on your dog’s stay and share tips for maintaining routines at home.

Before your first visit, we review your dog’s history, health, and lifestyle so we can recommend the best lodging setup and play schedule. If your pup is highly social, we may suggest more group play throughout the day, while dogs that prefer quiet time may be better with shorter sessions and longer breaks in their cabin. We talk through feeding times, treats, and medication schedules during enrollment so there are no surprises, and so you feel confident that your instructions will be followed exactly during your dog’s dog boarding stay.

Our facility exceeds regional expectations for canine health and safety, with routine inspections, limited group sizes, and trained staff available day and night. Each detail is in place to provide security and peace of mind for dog owners in Castro Valley and beyond.

Orientation Visits & Flexible Options

We encourage a short orientation before your dog’s first overnight stay, allowing new guests to explore our facility, meet Camp Counselors, and settle in. This visit builds comfort and helps us understand your pet’s preferences, play style, and any anxieties. Our staff works closely with you to tailor routines for puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs. If your plans change suddenly, our flexible scheduling and curbside drop-off options make adjustments easy. We’re committed to accommodating your family’s unique needs, so your pup stays comfortable even when your schedule is unpredictable.

Many pet parents in the Castro Valley community use orientation visits to see how their dog responds to our environment before committing to a longer boarding reservation. During these visits, we can suggest whether a shorter trial night, a weekend away, or a full vacation stay will be the best fit based on your dog’s body language and comfort level. By building up their confidence in stages, our doggie boarding becomes a familiar experience rather than a big change, which can be especially helpful for rescue dogs or those who have never stayed away from home before.

Castro Valley FAQs

Have questions? Camp Bow Wow San Ramon is here to help!

  • Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.

The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.

Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.

In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.

  • Yes, we offer extended dog boarding! We understand that sometimes life takes you away for a bit longer, and we're here to make sure your pup is happy and comfortable the whole time.

  • Yes, we offer dog boarding for all breeds! The safety and well-being of our canine guests are our top priorities. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we require all dogs to pass a Camper Interview. This process helps us determine if our play-based environment is a good fit for your pup.

While we don't discriminate based on breed, please note that some insurance policies and city ordinances may have restrictions. For specific questions about our policies, please contact your local Camp Bow Wow today.

  • To maintain our incredibly high standards and satisfaction ratings, your pup must be up to date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines.

Other vaccinations and requirements for dog boarding can vary by Camp. Contact your local Camp Bow Wow for details.

  • If you'd like to drop off your pup for overnight dog boarding stays, we suggest you bring them in before 4 pm to ensure they have plenty of time to play, eat and enjoy themselves before bedtime.

To ensure we can give your dog plenty of attention when you come to pick them up, we kindly ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before closing time.
