Dog Day Care in Asheville
A Fun, Safe Camp For Your Pup’s Day
When your schedule is packed, it can be hard to give your dog all the playtime and attention they crave. That is where dog day care comes in. At Camp Bow Wow® South Asheville, we created Camp so pups can spend the day romping, relaxing, and getting plenty of TLC while you take care of your day.
Here in Asheville, many dog parents juggle work, errands, and time outdoors. We understand how stressful it can feel to leave your pup home alone and wonder what they are doing. Our goal is to give you peace of mind by providing a safe, supervised place where dogs can play, socialize, and rest comfortably.
From Camper screening to all-day monitoring by our Camp Counselors, we keep a close eye on every tail wag. You can even peek in on your dog through our web cameras, so you stay connected and confident about how their day is going.

Why Local Dog Parents in Asheville Choose Us
Dog parents in the Asheville area look for more than just a place to drop off their dogs. They want a trusted team that treats pups like family and understands dog behavior. At Camp Bow Wow South Asheville, we focus on every dog’s happiness and well-being, not just basic care.
Our Camp features an open-play environment where dogs enjoy all-day indoor and outdoor play with compatible friends. Instead of short potty breaks, your pup can run, romp, and explore under the watchful eyes of our certified Camp Counselors. We group dogs by size and temperament, and our team actively guides play so it stays fun and friendly.
Before a dog joins group play, we complete a thorough Camper screening. This includes reviewing vaccination records and getting to know your dog’s personality. By taking time to evaluate each new Camper, we work to build safe, happy play groups and give you added confidence.
We also keep pricing transparent. Our all-inclusive approach means your dog’s playtime, attention, and basic comforts are included, so you are not surprised by hidden add-ons at checkout. You know what you are paying for, and your dog knows they are in for a full day of fun.
What Your Dog’s Day Looks Like
It helps to picture what your dog will actually do during the day. At our Camp in Asheville, a typical day balances active play, rest, and plenty of affection. From the moment you arrive, our team greets you and your dog by name, then helps your pup settle into their play group.
After check-in, dogs join friends in our spacious indoor and outdoor yards. Camp Counselors are always in the play areas, making sure pups are playing nicely, sharing toys, and taking breaks when they need them. We pay attention to energy levels and body language so that social time stays positive for everyone.
Throughout the day, dogs cycle between play and rest. We use cozy cabins or quiet spots for nap times, which helps prevent overstimulation and gives pups a chance to recharge. Many dogs choose a favorite spot to relax before heading back out to play.
For busy dog parents in Asheville, it can be convenient to combine services. Depending on availability, you may be able to coordinate day care with boarding, training sessions, or grooming so your pup comes home not just tired, but clean and well-mannered too.
Here is a sample day at Camp:
- Morning drop-off and a warm welcome from our team
- Introduction to a play group with a similar size and play style
- Supervised indoor and outdoor play with toys and friends
- Scheduled rest periods in cozy cabins or quiet areas
- Afternoon playtime and more one-on-one attention
- Pick up with a tired, happy dog ready to relax at home
How We Keep Play Safe
Safety is one of the first things dog parents ask about, and it is a top priority for us, too. Group play can be wonderful when it is thoughtfully managed. At Camp Bow Wow South Asheville, we put several layers of safety in place before a dog even steps into the yard.
Every new Camper starts with an interview process. We review vaccination records, talk with you about your dog’s history, and slowly introduce them to our environment. During this trial period, our Camp Counselors watch how your dog interacts with others and how comfortable they are in the Camp setting.
Once a dog joins our regular schedule, they are always supervised. Our Camp Counselors are present in the play yards, encouraging good manners and intervening when needed. We do not rely on cameras or quick check-ins alone. Instead, we stay with the dogs, reading their cues and adjusting play or rest time as needed.
Our facility is designed with dogs in mind. Indoor areas are climate-controlled to help keep pups comfortable on hot or chilly days in Asheville, and outdoor yards are securely fenced. We maintain clean play surfaces, fresh water, and cozy cabins so dogs have a safe, inviting place to relax.
We know many pet parents like to see their dogs in action. That is why we offer web cameras in our play areas. You can log in during the day to watch your dog having fun, which adds another layer of transparency to how we care for your pup.
Our safety and wellness checkpoints include:
- Camper interview and temperament evaluation before group play
- Required up-to-date vaccinations as outlined by our Camp policies
- Secure indoor and outdoor play areas with appropriate fencing
- Clean water, regularly sanitized surfaces, and monitored rest breaks
- Camp Counselors present in the yards to supervise all play
Is Day Care Right For Your Dog
Not every dog has the same needs, and that is okay. Our job is to help you decide whether dog day care in Asheville is a good fit for your pup, based on their personality and your routine. Many Campers are social dogs who love being around others and have energy to spare.
Day care can be a strong match for high-energy dogs who get restless or destructive when left alone at home. It is also helpful for pups who get lonely during long workdays or for dogs who need regular socialization to stay confident in new environments. For many families in Asheville, it complements an active lifestyle by giving dogs an outlet while people work or run errands.
If your dog is shy, older, or new to a group setting, we take that into account. During the Camper interview, our team observes how your pup responds to new sights, sounds, and other dogs. Some dogs prefer shorter visits or quieter friends, and we work to honor those needs rather than pushing them into constant activity.
Our goal is for each dog to leave Camp content, not overwhelmed. That is why we focus on a personalized balance of exercise, socialization, and rest, instead of a one-size-fits-all schedule. We are always happy to talk with you about your dog’s specific personality and help you decide how often day care makes sense.
Getting Started With Camp Day Care
Once you decide that Camp sounds like a good fit, getting started is straightforward. We walk you through each step so you know exactly what to expect. Most dog parents in Asheville begin with a phone call or online inquiry, then schedule a Camper interview to see how their pup enjoys the environment.
Before your first visit, we will review our vaccination and health requirements with you. Bringing current records helps us keep the whole pack safe. On the day of the evaluation, you will have time to talk with our team, ask questions, and share anything we should know about your dog’s habits or preferences.
After your dog has completed the interview and been approved for group play, you can book regular or occasional days, depending on your needs. Some families use Camp several times a week, while others choose specific days that align with their work or travel schedule. Our team can help you plan a routine that fits your life and your dog’s energy level.
Pricing is all-inclusive, so your dog’s play, attention, and basic comforts are built into the daily rate. If you want to pair day care with boarding, training, or grooming, we can walk you through available options and scheduling. Our goal is to make it easy to give your pup a full, happy day while you take on yours.
Here is a simple checklist to prepare for your first visit:
- Call (828) 624-2780 or contact us to schedule a Camper interview
- Gather your dog’s current vaccination records as outlined by our Camp
- Label your dog’s collar and any items you plan to bring
- Share your dog’s routine, preferences, and any special considerations
- Plan your drop-off and pickup times so we can welcome you without rush

Dog Daycare FAQs
Have questions? Camp Bow Wow South Asheville is here to help!
-
Yes, Camp Bow Wow requires all dogs attending daycare to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s also recommended that dogs receive the Leptospirosis vaccine annually, as it can be deadly and spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects dogs from four serious and contagious illnesses: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs continue booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion usually given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all dogs attending daycare at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog daycare, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
-
Camp Bow Wow requires all dogs must be spayed or neutered at 7 months of age in order to receive daycare and boarding services.
- Camp Bow Wow understands that the choice to spay or neuter and at what age is a decision to be made for each individual dog and by the dog’s owner and veterinarian.
- For safety in a play group, dogs must be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age to take part in boarding or daycare services at Camp Bow Wow.
- As dogs reach sexual maturity, they are able to reproduce and hormonal changes occur that can alter behavior or may cause tension amongst other dogs within the group dynamic. This can impact the safety of all Campers and is not advised for open play environments.
-
Dogs staying overnight can be dropped off anytime that day during Camp hours. We suggest arriving before 4 p.m., so they can play, eat, and play again before bedtime. While you can check your pup in and out anytime during Camp hours at no additional cost, we do request you pick them up 15 minutes before closing, so we can tuck in our Overnight Campers.
-
This measure is to ensure the safety of all our Campers. Dogs can become possessive of toys, which can cause an altercation. If small pieces are torn off or broken off, a dog could choke or swallow and cause an obstruction.

You can view the free live webcams on the Camp Bow Wow website via your computer, tablet, or mobile device. We also invite you to download our iPhone or Android app to easily access the cameras from anywhere. The cameras are on during business hours when the pups are at play. Many locations offer luxury suites with 24/7 access to the suite’s webcam.
