Dog Boarding in Asheville
A Fun, Safe Home-Away-From-Home For Your Pup
When you are away, you want your dog to be happy, safe, and surrounded by people who truly care. At Camp Bow Wow® South Asheville, we provide dog boarding that feels more like a vacation at Camp than a stay in a traditional kennel. Dogs enjoy all-day play with friends, then curl up in cozy cabins at night for restful sleep.
We understand it can be stressful to leave your pup, whether it is for one night or a longer trip. Our team is here to make that easier with plenty of personal attention, supervised group play, and a clear process that shows you exactly what your dog will experience. From the first Camper interview through pick-up, we treat every dog like part of our own family.
Our Camp Counselors monitor pups throughout the day, encourage healthy play, and keep a close eye on each dog’s comfort level. With safety-focused procedures, a fun open-play environment, and web cameras that let you peek in, you can relax knowing your best friend is having a great time while you are away.
Give your dog a fun mountain vacation of their own in our secure, climate-controlled cabins while you are out of town. Call (828) 624-2780 or book online to reserve your pup's stay today.
Why Our Camp Is Different
Many pet parents in Asheville look for more than a basic kennel with short walks and long hours in a crate. Our Camp is designed as a dog hotel Asheville families can count on for all-day engagement, socialization, and thoughtful care. Dogs spend their days playing in spacious indoor and outdoor areas, not just watching the hours pass by from a run.
We follow an all-inclusive approach that keeps things simple for you. Playtime, attention from our Camp Counselors, and time in our cozy cabins are all part of the boarding experience. Our goal is to give your pup a full Camp day filled with fun, followed by a comfortable night of rest, without surprise add-ons that you did not plan for.
Safety is built into everything we do. Before joining group play, each new Camper goes through a screening process so we can understand their temperament and play style. Throughout the day, our team actively supervises the play yards, guides interactions, and watches for signs that a dog needs a break. This kind of hands-on care helps pups feel secure and lets you feel confident about leaving them with us.
Transparency matters too. Our facility is set up so you can see the environment your dog enjoys, and our web cameras let you check in whenever you like during play hours. When you combine that with our commitment to all-day engagement and our comfortable cabins, you get a boarding experience that is crafted around your dog’s happiness as well as your peace of mind.
What Overnight Boarding Looks Like
It helps to know exactly what your dog will experience during an overnight stay. At our dog boarding service, a typical day starts with morning check-in and greeting friends in the play yards. After a quick settling-in period, dogs join their appropriate play groups, where they can romp, sniff, and socialize under the watchful eyes of our Camp Counselors.
Throughout the day, we rotate play with planned rest times so pups do not get over-tired. Dogs enjoy plenty of time in our indoor and outdoor play areas, then take breaks in quiet spaces where they can relax and recharge. We follow your feeding instructions carefully and work to keep mealtimes similar to what your dog experiences at home so their routine feels familiar.
In the evening, after a full day of activity, dogs head to their cozy cabins. Each cabin offers a comfortable, private space where your dog can unwind. We strive to create a calming bedtime routine, which may include soft lighting and a peaceful environment, so dogs can settle in and sleep soundly after all the fun and exercise.
For extended stays, we pay close attention to how each dog is adjusting. Some pups relax into Camp life right away, while others may take a little longer. Our team keeps an eye on appetite, energy levels, and behavior so we can adjust rest times as needed and let you know how your dog is doing when you check in with us.
Every overnight stay at Camp typically includes:
- All-day access to supervised indoor and outdoor play areas
- Individual cabins for nighttime rest and downtime breaks
- Feeding according to your instructions and schedule
- Plenty of TLC from our fun-loving Camp Counselors
- Routine monitoring of behavior and comfort throughout the stay
This balance of activity and rest helps dogs come home content and relaxed, rather than stressed from too much confinement or over-stimulated from unstructured activity.
How We Keep Dogs Safe
We know safety is your top concern, especially when group play is involved. That is why our overnight dog boarding includes a structured Camper screening before any pup joins the play yards. During this visit, we learn how your dog interacts with people and other dogs, which helps us create comfortable, compatible play groups.
Our play areas are supervised at all times while the dogs are out together. Camp Counselors are present in the yards, guiding play and watching body language, instead of observing from a distance. We maintain clean, well-kept spaces and use secure fencing and gates to help keep the environment safe for every Camper.
We also build safety into the daily rhythm. Regular rest breaks prevent dogs from getting overly tired, which supports calmer behavior and reduces the chance of conflict. When a dog seems unsure or needs a little space, we give them quiet time in a comfortable area so they can relax before returning to play.
For your peace of mind, we offer web cameras in our play areas so you can see your pup enjoying Camp life. Being able to check in and watch your dog having fun with friends can make a big difference, especially during a first boarding stay. Our team is also available to answer questions and give updates so you never feel disconnected from your dog.
Doggie Boarding For Asheville Lifestyles
Life in Asheville often includes last-minute weekend getaways, outdoor adventures, and travel to visit friends and family. Doggie boarding at Camp Bow Wow South Asheville fits right into that lifestyle by giving your pup a place to play and relax while you are on the road. Instead of worrying about rushed drop-ins or relying on friends, you have a consistent Camp your dog already knows and loves.
Our setup combines the fun of all-day play with the comfort of overnight cabins. That mix works well for active, social dogs whose families enjoy spending time hiking, exploring nearby areas, or taking longer trips out of town. While you enjoy your plans, your dog gets their own version of a vacation with buddies and caring Camp Counselors.
We also offer services that can be added during a boarding stay, such as daycare-style play, grooming, or training sessions, when available. This means your dog can come home not only tired and happy, but also clean or freshly brushed, depending on the options you choose. Over time, many dogs grow to see Camp as a familiar second home that fits right into your routine in the Asheville area.
Getting Your Dog Ready For Camp
Preparing for your dog’s first stay at Camp is easier when you know what to expect. We usually start with a Camper interview, which allows our team to meet your pup, learn about their habits, and see how they do in our environment. This visit helps us place your dog in suitable play groups and plan for a smooth first boarding experience.
When you book, we will walk you through our policies, answer your questions, and help you choose the dates that work best, especially around busy travel seasons. We encourage Asheville pet parents to schedule early for holidays and popular vacation times so their dog has a spot at Camp. You can also ask about touring the facility so you can see where your dog will play and sleep.
Here is a simple checklist to help you get ready:
- Confirm your dog’s Camper interview and any required vaccinations
- Pack your dog’s regular food and feeding instructions
- Bring any allowed medications with clear written directions
- Include a collar with ID tags and any approved comfort items
- Review drop-off and pick-up times so your schedule is stress-free
Our team is here to answer questions at every step, from planning the first visit to picking up a happily tired Camper. When you are ready to schedule a stay or tour, just reach out, and we will help you get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will my dog’s day look like during boarding?
Your dog’s day includes group play, scheduled rest breaks, and mealtimes that follow your instructions. Pups rotate between indoor and outdoor yards, then relax before returning to play. In the evening, they settle into cozy cabins so they can sleep comfortably after a full day of fun.
How do you make sure my dog is safe with other dogs?
We use a Camper screening to learn your dog’s temperament before they join group play. Dogs are placed in suitable groups and supervised by Camp Counselors who stay in the yards, guiding interactions. We also build in rest breaks so dogs do not become overly tired or stressed.
Can I check on my dog while I am away?
Yes, you can usually watch your pup on our web cameras during play hours. This lets you see them socializing, resting, or exploring the yards. If you have questions or want an update, our team is available to talk so you always feel connected to your dog’s stay.
What should I bring for my dog’s overnight stay?
Plan to bring your dog’s regular food, any allowed medications, and a collar with ID tags. We also suggest sending written feeding and care instructions. Our team provides the cabin, playtime, and attention, and we work to keep your dog’s routine as familiar as possible.
Is your boarding a good fit for first-time or anxious dogs?
Many first-time or nervous dogs settle in well once they complete the Camper screening and get to know our team. We introduce them gradually, watch closely for stress signals, and provide quiet breaks when needed. Our goal is to help each dog build confidence at a comfortable pace.

Dog Boarding FAQs
Have questions? Camp Bow Wow South Asheville is here to help!
-
Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
