Kevin and Lori Thelen have owned and operated Camp Bow Wow Hilliard since 2009, making them one of the longest-running locally rooted dog care operations in the Columbus area. Behind them is a nationally established brand: Camp Bow Wow was founded in 2000 and has been providing dog care services ever since. That combination of neighborhood accountability and proven systems is what pet parents from Hilliard, Dublin, Grove City, and the Marysville, Union County, and Delaware County corridors have been counting on for well over a decade.

We offer Dog Daycare, Dog Boarding, Dog Grooming, and Dog Enrichment, all under one roof. Our pricing is all-inclusive with no hidden fees, so you know exactly what you’re paying before drop-off.

How We Keep Camp Safe for Every Pup

Every staff member holds the Certified Camp Counselors® designation and is trained in canine first aid and CPR. Our facility is monitored 24/7, and every dog goes through a Camper interview before joining group play. It’s an assessment of social behavior that happens before any pup enters a shared space.

From there, dogs are grouped by temperament and size so play stays balanced and low-stress. All Campers must be spayed or neutered and current on rabies, distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations before attending. These aren’t just rules; they’re the foundation of an open-play environment where dogs can be dogs.

The People Behind Camp Bow Wow Hilliard

Kevin Thelen is a retired automotive engineer who has also served in franchise advisory roles at the national Camp Bow Wow level. Lori grew up with dogs and spent years fostering for Central Ohio rescues before the Thelens opened Camp. That background shapes how they run things every day.

Adam has managed the Hilliard location since it opened in 2009, and several of our Shift Leads have been here for years as well. Low turnover reflects a team that genuinely enjoys working with dogs and shows up that way. The Thelens also partner with RESCUEDohio and support foster dogs through community programs. Kevin personally leads Rides4Refugees, a nonprofit helping refugees in Central Ohio access transportation, a reflection of the broader values the family brings to everything they do.
