Dog Boarding Built Around How Boulder Pet Parents Live

Boulder is an active, travel-prone community, and a lot of our Campers come from households that are frequently on the move, whether for work, outdoor pursuits, or extended trips. That reality shapes how we run our doggie boarding program. Our 6-month Bordetella requirement isn’t the national Camp Bow Wow standard. It’s a Boulder-specific policy that reflects how often our dogs are in group environments and how much their owners travel. If you have questions about vaccination requirements, our front desk team can walk you through everything before your first reservation.

We board dogs of all sizes. Great Danes, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, small breeds, and every mix in between have all called our Cabins home. Every dog gets the same individual attention, the same play yard access, and the same nightly routine regardless of size.

If you’re planning around summer travel, our calendar fills up fast. Mountain festival weekends, trail season, and university schedules drive some of the highest boarding demand of the year. Holiday reservations require a deposit at booking and carry a 3-night minimum, so it pays to plan ahead. Whether you need a quick weekend stay or a longer stretch, Camp Bow Wow Boulder is the dog hotel Boulder pet parents choose again and again.

Getting Started with Dog Boarding at Camp Bow Wow Boulder

New to Camp? Here’s what to expect before your dog’s first overnight stay.

Step 1: The Camper Interview

All dogs must complete a Camper Interview before their first boarding stay. This behavioral screening confirms that your dog is a good fit for group play and helps us match them with the right play group from day one. Dogs must be spayed or neutered and current on core vaccinations, including Bordetella every 6 months at our Boulder location.

Step 2: A Trial Day of Daycare

We strongly recommend at least one day of daycare before a first boarding stay. A pre-boarding daycare visit lets your dog learn the facility layout, meet our Camp Counselors, and get comfortable with the play yards before the added element of an overnight stay. Dogs that arrive familiar with the environment can settle in more easily when boarding begins.

Step 3: Pack for the Stay

We provide the cot, blanket, and Campfire Treat. Here’s what to bring from home:

  • Dry and/or wet food and treats
  • Beds and/or blankets
  • Toys (stored in your dog’s Cabin for the duration of the stay)
  • An unwashed t-shirt or pillowcase for dogs prone to separation anxiety
  • All medications in their original containers

Please skip the food and water bowls unless your dog requires a special slow-feed bowl. Drop-off is no later than 6:00 PM on check-in day so your dog has time to settle, eat, and head outside before bedtime.

Dog Boarding FAQs

Have questions? Camp Bow Wow Boulder is here to help!

  • Overnight dog boarding costs vary by location, the type of accommodations, and what’s included. At Camp Bow Wow, nightly boarding rates include all-day open-play daycare, a comfortable sleeping space, and hands-on care from trained staff, with straightforward, all-inclusive pricing whenever possible. Your local Camp can provide exact overnight rates and help you choose the best boarding options for your pup’s needs.

  • At Camp Bow Wow, boarding includes all-day open-play daycare, a cozy Camp sleeping area, feeding, medications, webcam access, and attentive care from Certified Camp Counselors®. Sf Optional add-ons like enrichment, training, or bath and grooming , may be available at your Camp Bow Wow location.
  • Yes, holiday surcharges are common in dog boarding because these are peak times when space and staff are in higher demand. Many Camp Bow Wow locations may apply a small holiday fee or require minimum-night stays during major holidays to ensure we can provide safe, consistent care for every Camper. Your local Camp will share holiday rates and policies in advance so you can plan your pup’s stay with confidence.

  • Many Camp Bow Wow locations provide daily updates so you know how your pup is doing during dog daycare and boarding. Our Certified Camp Counselors® closely monitor each Camper’s behavior, play style, and overall well-being, and can share how your pup ate, played, rested, and made new friends. Some Camps also offer digital “report cards,” photos, or notes, so you get added peace of mind while your four-legged family member enjoys their stay - check with your local Camp for specific update options.
  • Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.

The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.

Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.

In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
