Regular Grooming Supports:
- A healthy coat and skin: Regular brushing removes loose hair and dirt, preventing matting and skin irritation. It also helps distribute natural oils, keeping your dog's coat healthy and shiny.
- Enhanced Hygiene: Grooming helps maintain cleanliness, reducing the risk of infections and parasites. Regular nail trimming prevents discomfort and potential injuries.
- Early Detection of Issues: Grooming lets you closely examine your dog's skin and coat, enabling early detection of potential health problems such as skin infections, parasites, or lumps.
- Reduced Shedding: Regular brushing can significantly reduce shedding, keeping your home cleaner and your allergies under control.
- Improved Behavior: A well-groomed dog often feels better about themselves, leading to improved behavior and a happier disposition.
Why Dog Nail Trimming Is Sometimes Best Left to Professionals
Obviously, trimming dog nails doesn’t have to be done by professionals. Many pet parents are well-equipped and skillful at keeping nails the correct length. But just as many people are either uncomfortable with it or simply want dog groomers to handle it.
Here are a few reasons to leave dog toe nail trimming to professionals.
- If you have trouble getting your pup comfortable, bring them in. The environment at Camp Bow Wow is designed to feel like a vacation for your canine.
- There’s the risk of pain and bleeding if you cut the quick.
- Cutting too short makes every future attempt much harder.
- Routines and reinforcement help. If your dog associates nail trimming with visiting us, the structure may help them.

An exit bath is a bath scheduled at the end of your dog’s boarding or daycare stay so they go home clean and fresh after all their Camp adventures. We time it close to pick-up so your pup is dry, brushed, and ready for snuggles when you arrive. Just ask to add an exit bath when you book your Camper’s stay.

Most dogs benefit from a nail trim every 3–6 weeks, but it depends on how fast their nails grow and how much they naturally wear them down. If you can hear your pup’s nails clicking on the floor, it’s usually time for a trim. Our groomers can recommend a schedule that keeps your Camper’s paws healthy and comfortable.

Both nail grinding and clipping can be safe and effective when done properly. Clipping quickly shortens the nail, while grinding can smooth and round the edges, which some pups and pet parents prefer. Our team can talk through the options and help you choose what’s best for your dog’s comfort and nail health.

A typical dog bath service includes a gentle shampoo, a thorough rinse, towel and/or blow dry, and a brush-out suited to your pup’s coat. Some Camps may also offer add-ons like nail trims, ear cleaning, or de-shedding treatments. We’ll always let you know exactly what’s included so your pup gets the most out of their bath time.

Many pet parents love adding a bath at the end of a boarding stay or a big day of play so their pup comes home clean, soft, and cuddle-ready. After all that fun in the play yards, a fresh bath can be a nice finishing touch. Let us know at booking if you’d like to schedule a bath so we can plan your Camper’s “spa time” before pick-up.
