Dog Boarding FAQ in Columbus
Answers for Columbus Pet Parents Before Their Dog’s First Overnight Stay
Choosing overnight dog boarding for the first time raises real questions. At Camp Bow Wow Columbus - Grandview Heights, we want you to feel prepared before drop-off. This page walks through what’s included, how our screening works, what health records you’ll need, and how you can check in on your pup from anywhere. No guesswork, no surprises.
We offer dog boarding, daycare, training, and grooming, all under one roof. Boarding here isn’t a kennel stay. It’s a full Camp experience, combining all-day open-play daycare with a cozy overnight Cabin, and our pricing is all-inclusive with no hidden fees.

What’s Included in an Overnight Boarding Stay
A boarding stay at Camp includes more than a place to sleep. Your dog gets a full day of supervised open play, a private Cabin for overnight rest, feeding, and webcam access so you can check in whenever you’d like. Certified Camp Counselors® are with the dogs throughout the day, providing hands-on care and attention.
Need your dog to take medication during their stay? Our trained staff handles medication administration as part of the stay, at no extra cost. Optional add-ons such as enrichment activities, training sessions, or a bath and grooming appointment may also be available. Because overnight boarding costs vary by accommodation type, contact us directly for current rates and add-on options.
Your Dog’s Daily Routine & Cabin Accommodations
Dogs aren’t sorted into one big group. We place each Camper into a play group matched to their size, temperament, and energy level, so interactions stay comfortable and fun. The play yards are spacious, and your dog can have plenty of room to run, romp, and make friends.
When the day winds down, every boarding dog retires to their own individual Cabin, complete with a cot and a fleece blanket. As a little end-of-night tradition, each overnight Camper receives a Campfire Treat™ before settling in. It’s the small details that make Camp feel like home.
Safety, Screening, & the Camper Interview
Every dog who boards with us must first pass a Camper Interview. This step confirms that your dog is a good fit for a group-play environment before they ever spend a night. It’s not about excluding dogs. It’s about helping make sure each Camper has a safe, positive experience.
Our Certified Camp Counselors® are trained in dog behavior, Pet First Aid, and CPR. The facility maintains secure fencing and consistent hygiene protocols throughout. Dogs must also be spayed or neutered to participate in our open-play program, which helps keep group interactions relaxed and safe for everyone.
Vaccine & Health Record Requirements
Before boarding, all dogs must be current on the DHPP vaccine, which protects against Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. We also recommend the Leptospirosis vaccine. Lepto is a bacterial infection that’s common in the environment, can be fatal to dogs, and is transmissible to humans, making annual vaccination a smart step for any dog in a social setting.
Have your vet records ready before your dog’s first visit. Current documentation makes check-in smooth and can get your pup into play faster.
How to Check in on Your Dog During a Stay
Missing your dog is natural. That’s why we offer Camper Cams℠, live webcam access that lets you peek in on the play yards from your phone or computer during the stay. Seeing your dog sprint across the yard with a new friend can make the trip a little easier.
Some Camp Bow Wow locations also offer digital report cards, photos, or notes about a dog’s day. Whether that’s available here is worth confirming directly with our team when you book, so you know what to expect.
Holiday & Peak-Season Boarding Policies
Summer weekends, Thanksgiving, winter holidays: these are our busiest times, and space fills up fast. During peak periods, we may apply a small holiday fee or require a minimum-night stay. This reflects the higher demand on space and staff during those windows and helps us maintain the same level of care your dog receives any other time of year.
We share holiday rates and policies in advance so you can plan without surprises. If you’re booking around a major holiday, reaching out early is the best way to reserve your dog’s Cabin.
Booking Your Dog’s First Boarding Stay
The process is straightforward. New Campers complete the Camper Interview and meet our entrance requirements, including current vaccines and spay/neuter status, before their first overnight stay. We offer a free first day for new Campers, so your dog can experience Camp before you commit to a full boarding reservation. Reservations can be made online or by calling us directly, and if you have questions before booking, we can walk you through every step.
