Hello! We are Kevin and Lori Thelen, the owners of Camp Bow Wow® Hilliard since 2009 and Camp Bow Wow® Grandview Heights since 2017.

Lori has always had a passion for dogs and owning a dog boarding facility, so shortly after our three children grew up and left the house to take on their own lives and careers, we decided it was time make our passion a reality! After considering many options, we chose industry leader Camp Bow Wow®, which offers a fun and safe place where a dog can be a dog and have a tail-wagging great day. Providing top level care with a personal touch and a focus on family are so important to us.

When starting Camp Bow Wow®, we identified five key values that drive everything we do to create the best environment for our furry guests, their parents and our staff. These are Safety, Transparency, Family, Trust and Compassion. You can find these values posted in our lobby and staff breakroom to remind us every day of who we are and what is top priority.

Prior to starting Camp Bow Wow®, Kevin holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan State University and worked for over three decades as an engineer for major automotive companies. Lori has held various positions in insurance and retail industries, all while raising three wonderful kids and two dogs. She has also volunteered and fostered dogs for several local rescue organizations.

When not working on things at Camp, Kevin enjoys biking, running, woodworking and dabbling a little into winemaking. Along with anything dog related, Lori enjoys home crafting and scrapbooking and, of course, spending time with our three beautiful grandkids and her best furry friend, Rio, our Miniature Schnauzer. Together Kevin and Lori enjoy watching college sports (Michigan State and Ohio State are our favorites) and traveling, especially if there is wine tasting involved!

Seeing happy dogs and customers, and being able to provide a comfortable, fun and safe place for dogs, our staff, and customers is what brings us the most pleasure as owners of Camp Bow Wow®. If you ever see us around, please feel free to stop and say hi!

    Kathy Manager

Hello Pups and PAWrents! My name is Kathy and I’m so excited to introduce myself as Manager at Camp Bow Wow® Grandview Heights. I have been with the Camp Bow Wow® family since 2014 and have learned and grown so much with both my human- and fur-friends. You know that feeling you get every day when you come home to see your pup who’s just so excited to see you?! That’s me every day! I never dreamed I would be lucky enough to have a career where I could educate others in the doggie world, work with an amazing staff who are always eager to learn and get so much love every day from so many pups, but here I am, just living the dream!

I have been married since 2002 with three children, ages 18, 16 & 12 years old. I have 2 rescue pups; Farley is a 5-year-old Boxer/Pitt mix and Keira is a 4-year-old Shepherd/Pitt/Terrier/we don’t really know what mix. When I’m not at Camp, I love spending time with my family outdoors camping, hiking, and playing games.

I can’t wait to meet you and your pup and look forward to growing our Camp family! Your pup will likely remember where my office is because I’m known as the Cookie Lady

    Kelly Lead Dog Trainer

Hello! My name is Kelly and I am the Head Trainer and Training Manager at Camp Bow Wow® Hilliard and Camp Bow Wow® Grandview Heights. I have worked at Camp for about 4 years now and professionally with dogs for 12+ years. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. From there, I attended Animal Behavior College to become a dog trainer. I then tested my skills to the max by receiving my national certification from the Certified Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT-KA) and recently became an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator!

I have four dogs of my own: Kevin (pictured with me), Daya the Border Collie, Effy the Husky, and Elliot the Boxer mix. I also own a horse named Annie, but let’s be real, she’s basically a dog.

I specialize in working with dogs with leash reactivity, anxiety and aggression issues. I have a strong passion for working with therapy dogs and educating the public about using counter-conditioning training with their dog. I believe in the new age, science-based dog training and that every dog has different needs. I continue learning and expanding my skills on a daily basis to master the profession and strength my knowledge of dog behavior. I look forward to creating new client relationships and you knowing that your dog will be taken care of by someone who is well educated in this profession. For training inquiries, contact me at kelly.born@campbowwow.com or by phone 614-664-9264. I'm excited to teach you and your pup!

    Lisa Marketing Director

Hi there! My name is Lisa and the cute Golden Retriever next to me is my partner in crime, Andy. I am the Barketing Director and Event Coorginator for Camp Bow Wow® Hilliard and Camp Bow Wow® Grandview Heights. I started working at our Hilliard Camp in 2012 as a counselor throughout college, continually growing with our company into management positions and eventually transitioning my career to all things Marketing in 2018. From meeting new customers to the relationships I’ve formed with our dogs and their pawrents over the years, there is no greater reward to me than seeing my Camp family blossom into what it is today!

When I’m not working, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with my friends.

And I can’t forget about Andy! Andy is my 4-year-old Golden Retriever who doesn’t know a bad day. This girl is always smiling and loves meeting new people. She graduated from Camp Bow Wow® Obedience Levels 1, 2, & 3, and just recently passed her Canine Good Citizen test. I call her my Certified Good Girl! Her favorite things are her teddy, going to work with mom, and swimming.

If you ever see us around Camp or out and about at a park or pet store, feel free to ask to say hi!
