We welcome questions about our check-in process, emergency procedures, and how we introduce new Campers so you feel informed before booking.
Preparing Your Dog for Their First Camp Stay
If this is your dog’s first time away from home, a little preparation can make their experience even more enjoyable. We recommend scheduling a meet-and-greet so your pup can get used to our lobby, play yards, and friendly team before a longer visit. Bringing familiar items like a favorite blanket or toy can also help your dog relax and settle into their Cabin more comfortably. Our staff is happy to discuss your dog’s routine, from feeding times to preferred activities, so we can mirror what they are used to at home as closely as possible.
Many families in Eastpointe and nearby neighborhoods use a few days of daycare as a warm-up before booking a longer boarding stay, especially for younger or more sensitive dogs. This gradual approach lets your dog experience the sights, sounds, and smells of Camp in shorter sessions, building positive associations over time. During these visits, we observe how your pup interacts with other dogs and which play groups they enjoy most, which helps us tailor future doggie boarding stays to their comfort level. By the time you need to travel for a weekend or holiday, your dog will already recognize our team and routine, making the transition smoother for everyone.
To help you feel prepared, we can review a simple checklist that covers vaccination records, labeling personal items, and planning drop-off and pick-up times that fit your schedule. If you are coordinating travel through Detroit Metro Airport or spending time elsewhere in Michigan, we encourage you to share your plans so we can confirm pick-up windows that work well for you. Clear communication before your trip allows us to focus fully on caring for your pup during their stay and helps ensure you return to a happy, relaxed Camper.

Eastpointe FAQs
Have questions? Camp Bow Wow Lil' Campers St. Clair Shores is here to help!
-
Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
