Dog Boarding in Elmwood Park

Supervised Play by Day, Comfortable Cabin Rest at Night

Headed out of town but can’t take your pup with you? We provide overnight dog boarding services that combine a full day of play in our spacious play yards with a designated Cabin for nighttime rest. Your dog can exercise, socialize, enjoy enrichment, and settle in comfortably while you’re away.

Before the stay, we’ll explain the Camper Interview, vaccination requirements, introductory daycare visit, and the information we need for feeding or medication administration. These steps help us determine whether our group-play environment and boarding routine are appropriate for your dog.

Call Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park at (201) 733-4893 to discuss your dog’s needs and prepare for an overnight stay.

Boarding Requirements & Stay Preparation

Every new Camper must complete a Camper Interview before participating in dog daycare or overnight boarding. A new Camper, or a returning Camper who hasn’t visited this location within the past year, must also complete a full or half day of daycare before boarding.

Local eligibility and intake requirements include:

  • Vaccinations: Dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations.
  • Bordetella Timing: Bordetella must have been administered within the past year. A waiting period applies when the vaccine is newly administered or expired, so confirm the required timing before arrival.
  • Age and Weight: Dogs must be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age and weigh at least 8 pounds to come to Camp.
  • Collar: Each Camper must arrive with a quick-release collar.
  • Emergency Contact: Pet parents must provide an up-to-date contact who can pick up the dog and take them to a veterinarian if needed.

From Check-In to Pickup

Before arrival, confirm your reservation and provide accurate vaccination records, feeding directions, medication details, and emergency contact information. Tell us about relevant health needs, temperament, and routines so we can discuss them before the stay.

At check-in, we review the required information and collect payment. Your dog then follows the Camp routine, including supervised daytime activity and overnight rest in an individual Cabin. Because policies may change, confirm arrival instructions, cancellation terms, pickup procedures, and current pricing when making your reservation.

Is Group-Play Boarding Right for Your Dog?

Group-play overnight boarding may suit a dog who is comfortable around other dogs, can settle after active periods, and meets Camp’s health and behavior requirements. The Camper Interview helps us evaluate your dog’s readiness for the Camp environment before an overnight stay.

Consider these questions before requesting a reservation:

  • Is your dog comfortable interacting with other dogs?
  • Can your dog rest after physical activity and socialization?
  • Does your dog follow a predictable feeding or medication routine?
  • Are there health or behavioral needs we should discuss in advance?
  • Has your dog completed the required introductory daycare visit?

Puppies, senior dogs, and dogs of different sizes can be considered for boarding when they meet the local requirements. If you’re unsure whether your dog will be comfortable with group play, talk with us before booking so we can assess their suitability.

Dog Boarding FAQs

Have questions? Camp Bow Wow Elmwood Park is here to help!

  • Overnight dog boarding costs vary by location, the type of accommodations, and what’s included. At Camp Bow Wow, nightly boarding rates include all-day open-play daycare, a comfortable sleeping space, and hands-on care from trained staff, with straightforward, all-inclusive pricing whenever possible. Your local Camp can provide exact overnight rates and help you choose the best boarding options for your pup’s needs.

  • At Camp Bow Wow, boarding includes all-day open-play daycare, a cozy Camp sleeping area, feeding, medications, webcam access, and attentive care from Certified Camp Counselors®. Sf Optional add-ons like enrichment, training, or bath and grooming , may be available at your Camp Bow Wow location.
  • Yes, holiday surcharges are common in dog boarding because these are peak times when space and staff are in higher demand. Many Camp Bow Wow locations may apply a small holiday fee or require minimum-night stays during major holidays to ensure we can provide safe, consistent care for every Camper. Your local Camp will share holiday rates and policies in advance so you can plan your pup’s stay with confidence.

  • Many Camp Bow Wow locations provide daily updates so you know how your pup is doing during dog daycare and boarding. Our Certified Camp Counselors® closely monitor each Camper’s behavior, play style, and overall well-being, and can share how your pup ate, played, rested, and made new friends. Some Camps also offer digital “report cards,” photos, or notes, so you get added peace of mind while your four-legged family member enjoys their stay - check with your local Camp for specific update options.
  • Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.

The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.

Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.

In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
