Getting Started: The Camper Interview
What Is a Camper Interview & Is It Required?
Every new dog at Camp Bow Wow Bloomfield completes a Camper Interview before joining group play. Our Certified Camp Counselors use it to confirm your pup is a good fit for our open-play environment. It’s free, and it’s required for all new Campers.
What Happens During the Camper Interview?
We start by reviewing your dog’s health and vaccination records, then introduce your pup gradually to the facility and other dogs. We watch how they respond and interact, then place them in a playgroup matched to their size and personality so they feel comfortable from day one.
How Old Does My Puppy Need to Be?
Puppies must be at least four months old and meet minimum vaccine requirements for their age before attending Day Camp. If your pup isn’t quite there yet, give us a call and we can help you plan the right start date.
Vaccines, Health & Safety Requirements
What Vaccines Does My Dog Need?
Core vaccines we require include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella. Bordetella helps protect dogs in group settings from a highly contagious respiratory illness sometimes called kennel cough. Some locations add requirements like canine influenza vaccination or fecal testing, so confirm the exact current requirements with us before your dog’s first visit.
Does My Dog Need to Be Spayed or Neutered?
Yes. We require dogs to be spayed or neutered by seven months of age to participate in Day Camp or boarding. Hormonal changes as dogs reach sexual maturity can affect behavior and group dynamics, and this policy supports a comfortable and safe environment for Campers.
Are All Breeds Welcome?
We don’t discriminate based on breed for Day Camp or boarding. That said, some local ordinances or insurance policies carry breed-specific restrictions, so it’s worth confirming with us directly since these rules can vary by location.
Pricing, Reservations & Day-to-Day Logistics
Is Pricing Really All-Inclusive?
Our pricing is transparent with no hidden fees. Optional services like grooming, training, enrichment sessions, or late pick-up may carry added costs, but we explain those upfront so there are no surprises on your bill.
Is There a Charge for Administering Medication?
No. Medication administration is included at no additional cost, provided the medication arrives in its original prescription bottle with a current date. Injectable medications can’t be administered.
Do I Need a Reservation?
Boarding always requires a reservation, and we recommend booking as early as possible. Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas fill up months in advance, and summer weekends go fast. Day Camp reservation requirements can vary, so check with us on current availability.
Overnight Boarding at Camp Bow Wow Bloomfield
What’s Included in an Overnight Stay?
Each overnight Camper gets their own cozy Cabin and a nightly Campfire Treat. Day Camp play is included with every boarding stay, so your dog can arrive tired and happy at bedtime rather than restless after a day of doing nothing.
Can I Watch My Dog During the Day?
Absolutely. Our Camper Cam lets you check in on your pup from a computer or mobile device anytime, including through the Camp App. It’s one of our favorite features for pet parents who want peace of mind without picking up the phone.
Grooming, Training & Facility Tours
Does Camp Bow Wow Bloomfield Offer Grooming and Training?
Yes. Our groomers and trainers are part of the full Camp experience, making us a one-stop destination for your dog’s enrichment, cleanliness, and good behavior. Ask about available services when you call or stop by.

Of course. Pet parents are welcome to stop in for a facility tour during business hours without an appointment. Seeing where your dog can spend their day is a great way to feel confident before their Camper Interview.
