Looking yor loving fur-ever homes In Kansas City

Meet Our Current Foster Dogs Who Are Looking for Their Loving Fur-ever Homes in Kansas City Westport

At Camp Bow Wow Kansas City Westport, we believe every dog should have a loving fur-ever home. We work closely with local shelters and rescues to help with their adoption efforts, and often have foster dogs staying at Camp. These dogs get to play all day with other Campers, snooze the night away in individual Cabins, and get lots of love and attention from our Certified Camp Counselors®.

  • Meet Maeby

    Age: 5 years old

    Breed: English Setter/Pointer Mix

Personality: Healthy, spayed and up to date on shots Good with kids three and up Good with other dogs Currently being fostered at Camp Bow Wow KC – Westport! Maeby is an absolute joy! She is one of the sweetest dogs and she seems most happy getting snuggles. Such a sensitive dog. We nicknamed her Slinky due to her propensity to slink into our laps for cuddle time. Her favorite spots to lay are on the furniture and she hates having to get off a bed. She loves attention, especially physical, but she needs to be with kids 3 and up as babies make her nervous. Aside from being a little shy with new groups and protective toward strangers walking past her yard, she is highly social. She is an incredibly intelligent dog and understands commands quite well. Though she is a hunting breed, she has never hunted. She could however, with the right trainer become a hunter as it is her favorite past time. The squirrels and other critters in the backyard have to be on high alert when Maeby comes out because she is after them instantly. In fact, her only major behavioral setback is the desire to explore and the minimal deterrent is the 4-foot fence. She would do well in a large yard with a privacy fence as she can clear a 4-foot fence. She goes on walks frequently since she never lacks energy, but she pulls on a leash. She would need some training in this department. Traveling in a vehicle makes her a little nervous and she doesn't sit well when driving from one place to the next. She is house trained. She is also quite scared of storms and loves to be held when thunder strikes. She responds well to treats and generally eats well. While we have had her, she has mostly been a grazer without food competition with other dogs with their food around. She loves playing with other dogs!
