Why Our Camp Fits Your Dog

Many traditional kennels focus on confinement and quick walks. At our Camp, we focus on open-play and comfort, so your dog spends the day running, chasing toys, and making friends under our watchful eyes. We want boarding to feel more like a doggie sleepover than a long day alone.

Our environment works well for social dogs who enjoy being around other pups and people. Throughout the day, our Camp Counselors are in the play yards, guiding healthy play, watching body language, and offering breaks when a Camper needs to slow down. We strive to keep the energy happy and balanced so dogs can relax when it is time to rest.

In the evening, dogs settle into their own cozy cabins where they can stretch out, enjoy a quiet space, and recharge for the next day. This combination of all-day play and comfortable rest helps many pups go home tired, content, and ready to come back. If you want a dog hotel Tanaina families feel good about using again, our goal is to be that place.

Pet parents often tell us they want their dog to feel loved while they are away. Our team understands that feeling. We greet Campers by name, keep an eye on their moods, and work to provide a routine that feels familiar and reassuring. Your dog’s emotional and physical well-being is at the center of how we design each stay.

How Overnight Boarding Works

Knowing what your dog’s stay will look like can make boarding feel much easier. Before any overnight dog boarding Tanaina stay, we complete a Camper screening visit so we can learn about your dog’s personality and comfort level in group play. Once that is finished, drop-off for boarding is simple.

On arrival day, you bring your dog to Camp and check in with our front desk team. We review your instructions for feeding, medications, and routines, then guide your pup into the appropriate play yard. From there, your dog joins our regular day of supervised play, rotating between indoor and outdoor spaces depending on the weather and schedule.

Throughout the day, dogs enjoy open-play with plenty of time to run and explore, along with planned rest periods so they do not get overstimulated. We follow your feeding schedule as closely as possible, making sure your dog has access to fresh water and a comfortable spot to relax when needed. If your dog has a favorite way to wind down, such as a particular toy or blanket, we encourage you to let us know.

In the evening, Campers head to their cabins for dinner and quiet time. Each dog has their own space, which helps them settle in and sleep soundly. Our team checks on the dogs and follows our overnight routines to support a calm, secure environment. The next morning, after breakfast, it is back to play so your dog stays engaged until you arrive for pick-up.

To help your dog feel at home, we suggest bringing:

  • Their regular food, pre-portioned if possible
  • A list of feeding instructions and any medications
  • A favorite toy or small blanket from home (if allowed by Camp policy)
  • Emergency contact information in case we need to reach you

We work hard to make every step of overnight dog boarding feel straightforward for you and familiar for your dog. If you have questions about how a specific routine will fit into a stay, our team is happy to walk through the details with you.

Safety, Comfort, & Play

Safety is one of the first things dog owners ask about, and it is one of the first things we think about too. Before joining the pack, each new Camper completes a screening process. During this visit, we learn about their behavior around other dogs and people, and we confirm that they meet our vaccination requirements.

Our play areas are designed for dogs to move freely while staying secure. Indoor spaces give dogs room to roam when the weather is uncooperative, and outdoor yards let them enjoy fresh air and sunshine when it is comfortable to be outside. Throughout the day, Camp Counselors stay in the yards with the dogs, guiding play and stepping in when a pup needs a break.

We pay close attention to how dogs interact, and we work to match Campers with the right playgroup based on size and temperament when that is appropriate. Some dogs are outgoing from the moment they walk through the door, while others need time and gentle encouragement. Our team adjusts the pace and level of interaction with each dog so that playtime stays fun and safe.

For additional peace of mind, we provide web cameras that allow you to log in and watch your pup enjoy Camp while you are away. Owners appreciate seeing their dog in action, whether they are wrestling with a new friend or taking a well-earned nap. We also keep our facility clean and maintained, because a fresh, cared-for environment supports the health and comfort of every Camper.

If your dog has a specific comfort need, such as extra time to settle into their cabin or a gentle approach at feeding time, you can share that with our team. We take those details into account when planning your dog’s stay, and our goal is to help them feel secure from drop-off to pick-up.

All Inclusive Dog Hotel Experience

When you choose our Camp, you receive more than a place for your dog to sleep. Your pup’s boarding stay includes all-day play, rest in a cozy cabin, and plenty of affection from our team. We design our services so that basic care, fun, and attention are part of the package.

We follow an all-inclusive approach to pricing so you are not surprised by extra charges for standard activities like group play or snuggles. Our rates cover the core parts of a boarding stay, including supervised play, feeding according to your instructions, and comfortable overnight accommodations. If you would like additional services, such as grooming or training around a boarding stay, we can help you plan those too.

This one-stop setup is especially helpful for busy families locally. You might schedule a bath toward the end of a longer stay so your dog comes home fresh, or pair daycare with boarding when your schedule is demanding. Our goal is to make caring for your dog easier by offering multiple services under one roof, instead of sending you to different locations.

Because we focus on each dog’s emotional as well as physical needs, we pay attention to how they seem throughout their time at Camp. Many pups leave relaxed and ready to rest at home, which means you can unwind too. When choosing a dog boarding company Tanaina pet parents can rely on, peace of mind and convenience often matter as much as playtime, and we keep all of those pieces in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my dog be supervised all night?

Your dog rests in a secure cabin with regular checks and established overnight routines that support safety and comfort. While the exact staffing setup can vary by location and time, our policies and monitoring systems are designed to help keep Campers as safe and calm as possible during the night.

How much playtime does my dog actually get?

Boarding includes all-day play in our open-play environment, with scheduled rest breaks to prevent overexcitement. Dogs spend most of their waking hours in supervised group play, not sitting in a kennel. The exact amount of activity can vary based on your dog’s age, energy level, and individual needs.

What vaccinations or screening do you require?

We require a Camper screening visit and up-to-date core vaccinations that help keep group play safer for everyone. Specific vaccine lists can vary by Camp and may change over time, so our team will review the current requirements with you before booking an overnight stay.

Can I check on my dog while I am away?

Yes, you can log in to our web cameras to see your pup playing and relaxing during the day. Owners often appreciate being able to peek in and watch their dog enjoy Camp. If you ever have questions during a stay, you can also contact our team for an update.

What if my dog has special routines or medications?

We can follow many owner instructions related to feeding, basic routines, and medications that fit within our care guidelines. It helps if you share clear written directions at check-in. Our goal is to respect the habits that matter to your dog so their stay feels as familiar as possible.

Tanaina FAQs

Have questions? Camp Bow Wow Anchorage is here to help!

  • Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.

The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.

Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.

In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.

  • Yes, we offer extended dog boarding! We understand that sometimes life takes you away for a bit longer, and we're here to make sure your pup is happy and comfortable the whole time.

  • Yes, we offer dog boarding for all breeds! The safety and well-being of our canine guests are our top priorities. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we require all dogs to pass a Camper Interview. This process helps us determine if our play-based environment is a good fit for your pup.

While we don't discriminate based on breed, please note that some insurance policies and city ordinances may have restrictions. For specific questions about our policies, please contact your local Camp Bow Wow today.

  • To maintain our incredibly high standards and satisfaction ratings, your pup must be up to date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines.

Other vaccinations and requirements for dog boarding can vary by Camp. Contact your local Camp Bow Wow for details.

  • If you'd like to drop off your pup for overnight dog boarding stays, we suggest you bring them in before 4 pm to ensure they have plenty of time to play, eat and enjoy themselves before bedtime.

To ensure we can give your dog plenty of attention when you come to pick them up, we kindly ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before closing time.
