Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Bring for My Dog's Stay?
When setting up for your pet's boarding stay, please bring their food, medication, and any special toys or bedding that make them comfortable. Maintaining their usual routine is crucial to ensure they feel at home as much as possible.
It's also helpful to provide grooming tools your pet is accustomed to, like brushes; these help us maintain their regular care routine. While we are fully equipped with premium supplies, maintaining these small bits of regularity can help mitigate separation anxiety and ensure a smoother transition for your four-legged friend.
If your dog is on a specific schedule for walks, meals, or medications, you can share that information with us so we can mirror it closely during their stay. Many parents traveling from Apex or neighboring communities also include written notes about quirks or comfort cues their dog responds to, which helps us welcome them into our dog hotel near Apex. Visitors often choose consistent routines and familiar care.
How Are Health & Safety Standards Maintained?
We follow strict health protocols in line with applicable local requirements, including regular facility sanitation and veterinary guidance, to support high levels of safety and hygiene.
Our facility is routinely reviewed to help ensure we are meeting North Carolina’s general expectations for animal boarding. We use pet-safe cleaning products to reduce germs without affecting your pet’s comfort. Additionally, our emergency planning is developed in collaboration with local vets, helping us maintain quick access to medical care when it is needed so pets can receive prompt attention.
We also maintain clear vaccination expectations and review each dog’s records before their stay, which helps protect all campers in our care. If your pet has unique health considerations, we discuss them with you in advance and note them in their profile so our team can respond quickly and appropriately throughout their overnight dog boarding near Apex.
Is There an On-Site Veterinary Service?
While we don't have a veterinary office on-site, we partner with local clinics to provide prompt medical care if needed. Our staff is trained to handle minor issues and communicate with veterinarians for emergencies.
We have a general contingency plan for health-related emergencies, including transport arrangements to nearby clinics. This plan helps ensure your pet can receive prompt care, reinforcing our dedication to their safety and well-being. Our team's knowledge and quick reflexes are supported by these strong local partnerships, so we are prepared to respond effectively in unexpected situations.
Before your dog’s stay, we gather your preferred veterinary contact information in case coordination with your regular clinic in Apex or the surrounding area is needed. This communication, combined with our established relationships with nearby providers, helps us act quickly while keeping you informed, which many families find reassuring when choosing a dog boarding company that Apex residents can count on.
How Are Meals & Exercise Handled?
We customize your pet’s feeding schedule according to your instructions and offer daily exercise routines to keep them active and healthy. You can provide your own food, or we can supply premium options.
Exercise is tailored to your pet's energy levels, including engaging play sessions and peaceful strolls around our expansive grounds. Our meal plans can accommodate many special dietary needs, including some hypoallergenic and grain-free diets, sourced from trusted brands that meet general nutritional standards. This holistic approach helps your pet maintain their health and vitality throughout their stay.
For high-energy pups, we can incorporate additional play sessions with compatible dogs or extra enrichment activities like puzzle toys and basic obedience practice. Older or more relaxed dogs might enjoy shorter walks and more cuddle time instead, giving doggie boarding near Apex that dogs of all ages a comfortable pace that matches how they feel at home.
Can I Visit My Pet During Their Stay?
Absolutely! We encourage visits by appointment to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth experience for all dogs in our care. This helps pets adjust while keeping them happy.
We find that short visits can significantly ease both pet and parent concerns. Scheduled visits allow pets to reassure themselves that their parents will return, enhancing their comfort during the stay. This policy is not only a comfort measure but also strengthens the bond between us, you, and your pets, affirming our commitment to a home-like environment.
Many families traveling within North Carolina plan a visit either before leaving town or when they return from trips through the Triangle, which can make pick-up day more relaxed for everyone. If you are unsure how often to visit or how your dog might react, we can share observations about their behavior and suggest a plan that keeps their routine calm while still giving you chances to see them during dog boarding in Apex, NC.
What To Expect From Your Dog’s First Stay
We know that leaving your dog for the first time can feel stressful, so we walk you through each step before and during their initial visit. At check-in, we review your dog’s routine, health needs, and personality so we can place them in the right play group and choose the best cabin for rest. Throughout the day, our team observes how they settle in, from their first sniff around the play yard to how they relax during quiet time, and we adjust their schedule to keep them comfortable.
During that first stay, many pups warm up gradually as they meet new friends and get used to the sights and sounds of Camp. We share updates about how they are eating, playing, and resting, and we encourage you to use our webcams to see them enjoying their time away from home. Because we regularly welcome dogs from Apex, Cary, and other nearby communities, we are familiar with a wide variety of breeds and temperaments, and we use that experience to make their introduction to our overnight routine as smooth as possible.

Dog Boarding FAQs
Have questions? Camp Bow Wow Cary is here to help!
-
Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
