Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to common questions about preparing your dog and getting to know our care environment.
What Should I Bring for My Dog’s First Day?
Bring your dog’s food and medication when they’re needed during the stay, along with clear feeding, medication, and care instructions. Please leave toys at home because possessiveness can lead to altercations in play yards, and broken toy pieces can create a choking hazard.
How Do You Ensure My Dog’s Safety?
Our facility near Windsor Hills is designed with your dog’s safety as a top priority. We maintain secure fencing around play areas and provide constant supervision. Each team member is trained in animal behavior, first aid, and emergency procedures, and we follow local regulations while conducting regular health checks and sanitization.
Real-time video monitoring helps us observe group dynamics and respond quickly when needed. We also routinely inspect indoor and outdoor play areas for potential hazards. By prioritizing safety and comfort, we create an environment where your pet can happily thrive while you’re away.
Can I Visit the Day Care Before Deciding?
Absolutely! We welcome you to visit Camp Bow Wow Austin near Windsor Hills before enrolling your pet. A tour lets you see where your dog will play and rest, meet the team, ask questions, and learn about our safety protocols.
You’ll also learn about our daily routines, approach to dog care, and programs that may suit your pet’s needs. Our goal is to create a positive introduction for both owners and pets, emphasizing our role as a reliable partner in your pet’s care journey.

Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.
The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.
Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.
In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
