Camp Bow Wow Southport's dog training services are designed to forge a healthy bond between you and your pup. Our premier dog training services offer variety, flexibility, and can cater to your dog’s specific needs. Our goal is to help you and your pup establish clear communication and enjoy working together. We believe training is a life-long process and should be both fun and challenging.

The training we offer is based on scientifically proven methodology and aligns with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®), the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and other established animal welfare organizations.

Training Program & Services

Regardless of age or experience, all dogs can benefit from learning. Whether your pup is starting out with the basics, you want to brush up on previously learned skills, or you’re ready to up the challenge with your pup, our training services can accommodate your needs.

Group Classes

Camp Bow Wow’s group classes include a variety of programs for all skill levels. Our obedience program is split into multiple levels, so pups start with the basics and increase the difficulty through each level as you and your dog progress. Other group classes include tricks, leash-walking skills, CGC prep, and more!

The three levels of our obedience classes are:

  • Level I—Basic: Builds the foundation of reliable commands like sit, down, leave it, come when called, and leash walking.
  • Level II—Intermediate: Learn how to get your dog to heel by your side, go to their mat, and add distance plus distractions to all their behaviors.
  • Level III—Public Polishing/CGC Prep: This level teaches your dog to sit when you greet a stranger, heel in a crowd, and more. They will now be prepared for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam.

In-Camp & Private Training

Camp Bow Wow Southport offers several options for pet parents who prefer their pup receives private training. Our Certified Trainers can work with your dog while they attend Camp, spending one-on-one time with them teaching behaviors you would like to work on. We can also provide training services for you and your dog in a private setting, based on your needs.

    Basic Puppy Training

    6 week class. Age minimum is 3 months. Basic manners such as sit, stay, loose leash walking, reliable recall, puppy behavioral issues such as jumping, nipping, barking & socialization. Teaching methods are reward based. Age appropriate vaccines required.

    		 Must fill out new camper registration form

    Level 1 - Basic Adult Dog Training

    6 week class. Age Minimum 7 months. Basic manners such as sit, stay, loose leash walking, reliable recall and other basic manners and commands. Behavior issues will be addressed such as jumping, nipping, barking. All teaching methods are reward based. Vaccines required.

    		 Must fill out new camper registration form

    Level 2 - Advanced Dog Training

    6 week class. Prerequisite of Level 1 completed and passed. Advanced behaviors such as heel, place, distractions and building on behaviors learned in Level 1. Vaccines required.

    Level 3. Our highest level of dog training

    6 week class. Prerequisite of Level 1 & Level 2 completed & passed. Your dog will learn how to the best dog they can be. Continued building on Level 2 learned behaviors. Your individual concerns, desires or wanted outcomes will be addressed and trained. Vaccines required

  • In-Camp Training Price

    Board & Train

    Each board & train is 100% tailored to your needs. You lets us know what you want us to work on! 4 night minimum required. Your dog must pass the Camp Bow Wow interview process. You are required to provide enough food for your dog's entire stay. Vaccines required. New Camper application must be completed.

    1 on 1 Training while at Daycare or Boarding

    We will train on what you want your dog to be trained on or we can make suggestions. While your dog is at daycare or spending the night, we will work with your dog 1 on 1 to address any issues or teach a behavior that you desire. $45 for 30 minutes or $80 for 60 minutes.

    Walk It Out! Loose Leash Training Sessions.

    Does your dog pull too hard when taking him or her for a walk? Our reward based training can curb or stop this behavior, making walking your dog easy, enjoyable and more safe. Most of these training sessions occur while your dog is at daycare or boarding.
