  • Kira May Counselor of the Month

    May Counselor of the Month

We are happy to say May’s Camp Counselor of the month is Kira. Kira has been with camp for 3 and half years and enjoys being able to see all her favorite campers (Reagan, Ava, Fritz, and more) after a long day of nursing classes. She says that working at camp has been a great job for her while in school. Kira also has two pets of her own at home named Jax and Lola. One thing that many people don’t known about Kira is that she is a pro bowler and enjoys beating her boyfriends in game when she has some free time.

  • Rudy May Camper of the Month

    May Camper of the Month

We are excited to announce that Rudy is our camper of the month for May 2022! He is an 8 month old Vizsla who has quite the spunky personality. When Rudy first joined us on his interview day, he was extremely nervous and uneasy. He stood in the corner most of the day, taking it all in. Fast forward just one short month and Rudy has the absolute time of his life at camp. Rudy runs in the door and practically breaks down the gate, excited to see his furry friends. Of all the pups here, Rudy’s very best friend would have to be Quill, the Coonhound! They are the same size and make playing all day long look easy. Rudy never fails to put a smile on our face and we are so thankful he joined our Camp Bow Wow pack!

  • Enzo May Member of the Month

    May Member of the Month

We are excited to announce that Enzo is our member of the month for May 2022. He is an 8 month old mixed breed who is the sweetest boy you ever could meet. Enzo joined us back in January when he was just a tiny little fella and now he is a 2 day per week member! Enzo started off a bit shy, but now you’d never think that word was even in his vocabulary. He loves to play with Drago, a German shepherd who perfectly matches his energy level! Enzo never forgets about our staff though as he gives his favorite counselors lots of love and kisses when in the play yard. Sometimes he will follow the counselor around the yard, begging for more attention! We just love Enzo and he has become such an important member of our Camp Bow Wow family!

  • April Camper of the Month

We are excited to announce that Groot is our camper of the month for April 2022! He is a two-year-old flat coated retriever who has a birthday on the 1 st of this month! We sure hope that Groot spends his special day with us! He is such a well-mannered dog and plays so well in the play area. He is one of those dogs that has the most perfect personality where he can play with any dog, big or small, shy or outgoing. One special thing about Groot is that he is always on the go, and never wants to take a break. From the minute he steps paw in the door to the minute the doorbell rings for him to go home, he is playing from start to finish. When he is let out of the gate at the end of the day, he jumps back on the fence begging for just 5 more minutes of play time. Groot’s happy go lucky personality never fails to put a smile on our faces. Thanks for being such a cool pup Groot, you make the perfect fit for our furry pack!

  • April Member of the Month

We are excited to announce that Louie is our member of the month for April 2022. He is a 1.5-year-old Labrador retriever who is an absolute sweetheart. Louie has been with us since July for boarding and occasional daycare, and now just recently became a 2 day per week member! Louie is so calm and sweet with our staff, always making sure to give us plenty of love and attention in the play areas. He has so many furry friends, but his very best friend is Conan the cattle dog. They romp and wrestle all day long! During these past winter months, Louie loved to go out and eat the snow. He would always run back inside with snow all over his nose which never failed to give us a good laugh. We just adore Louie and he is such an important part of our Camp Bow Wow family.

  • April Counselor of the Month

We are excited to announce that Javacia Rowe is April's Camp Counselor of the month! Jay started working at our Pittsburgh North location a few months ago and has nothing but impressed up since! She is an all-around hard worker. She helps where needed, for example when a newer employee doesn’t know a dog she helps, or when someone is unsure of a task she does not hesitate to show them. She is always asking good solid questions about the dogs or camp procedures. Jay has made many close connections with our campers, but Harley is by far her favorite and we think Harley feels the same way about Jay! Some of her other favorite dogs include Steel, Falcon, Otto, and Kit Kat! Jay does not have any dogs of her own, but she does have 2 cats at home named Catsanova and Nadia. Jay's favorite thing about working at Camp is how much time we spend with the dogs, she says she learns something new here every day, and she really likes her fellow staff members! Before she came to Camp she worked as a vet and served our country for 16 years in the Army reserve. Jay truly loves Camp and all of our campers, and we are so lucky to have her in our Bow Wow family! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to us and the pups!

  • Ellie

    March Camper of the Month

Ellie is a 5-month-old Labrador retriever puppy who has stolen all of our hearts! Ellie joined us about a month ago and camp is her most favorite place in the whole world! She makes counseling the small yard so much more entertaining listening to her growls and play tactics while she’s in the yard. It’s impossible to not smile when you’re around little Ellie, she just has that effect on you. She has the cutest little face that makes your heart melt! Ellie also just began our level 1 puppy classes and we can’t wait to see her learn and grow during her time here! She absolutely loves any dog and all dogs that give her attention, but her very best friend would have to be Opal, the bulldog who she romps with all day long. Ellie has made our staff smile every day since she started coming and we cannot wait to watch her grow up. We could not be happier to have her as a part of our pack!

  • Mona Lisa

Mona Lisa has made our teacup yard come to life with her sassy and fun attitude, even bringing our shy dogs out of their shell. Mona Lisa loves to play and to be outside with Biscuit, her best furry friend. They chase each other inside and outside, wrestling and romping all day long! She never forgets about our staff though, as she always makes sure to give us a few quick smooches before going back to play mode! Mona Lisa is also a part of our training class program and we can’t wait to see all of the new things she learns in the level 2 class! Thank you for always making us smile Mona Lisa, we cannot be more thankful to have you as a part of our pack!

  • Mike Shaffer

    March Counselor of the Month

    Mike Shaffer

We are so excited to announce that Mike Shaffer has been awarded the Camp Counselor of the Month for March! Mike has worked at our East location for 2 years and our camp has gone nowhere but up ever since. He has never called off a shift and always does what is expected of him. He goes above and beyond before his shift is over, and always comes into work with a clear and open mind. Mike has a bond with the campers like no other, and being around so many dogs that love him so much is the reason why he has such a passion for this job. One of our campers, Lila, is so attached to Mike that her owner said that if she ever had to give her away, Mike would be the one who got her. It's so amazing to see the relationships he builds with dogs and how attached they have gotten to him. That is the type of bond we want our counselors to have with our campers. Mike has a pup of his own, Molly, a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix who is attached to him at the hip. Some interesting things about Mike is that outside of work not only does he make his own music, he also installs swimming pools! Mike truly has put such a positive influence on our camp and we couldn't be more thankful that we have him as a part of our Camp Bow Wow family.

  • Bolt

    February Camper of the Month

Bolt is a two going on 3-year-old Pitbull mix with Labrador retriever and Chow Chow in him! He is such a handsome boy, and loves to show off his puppy dog eyes to any counselor he sees to get some love and attention. Bolt joined us at camp just over 2 months ago, and has become such a popular pup in the large play area! He has made so many friends, but his very best friend is definitely Drago, a German shepherd. They both love to run outside and chase each other around the bridge, hardly taking a breath! When Bolt first started coming to camp, he was on the shyer side but Drago and his other friends surely put that to an end! We love Bolt and are so thankful he has become a part of our Camp Bow Wow pack!

  • February Member of the Month

Kimber is a one-year-old Siberian husky with endless energy. Kimber joined us just one short month ago and has become a 2 day per week member ever since. The minute she walks in the door, she practically knocks over the staff with pure excitement to get back to the play area to see all of her friends! She definitely had no trouble making friends and even brings our shy dogs out of their comfort zone to come and join in on the fun she creates. We love when our campers bring out the best in each other, and Kimber is our one dog who keeps the fun going from the minute she comes to the minute she leaves! When it’s time to go home, she stands by the gate, hoping she can have just a few more minutes with friends beforehand! Kimber is such a sweet thing and we could not be happier to have her as a part of our Camp Bow Wow family!

  • February Counselor of the Month

Kim is a cornerstone of our Highland Park location. Her devotion and dedication are second to none. Her ability to connect to both our clients and campers alike is remarkable. Her passion is shown through her care and attentiveness to all of our campers. Our campers know her by name and abound with delight when they know she'll be in! She is the loving mom to her pets Penny, Ninnie and Nellie. An exceptional trainer, Kim has helped create an environment of understanding and goes out of her way to help her clients with their needs. Kim’s goal is to become an evaluator for the AKC Star Puppy and K-9 Good Citizen programs. Kim has enjoyed working with and helping dogs. Prior to working at Camp Bow Wow, she rescued dogs off the streets while living in Arizona. A brilliant mother, outstanding trainer, and supportive colleague; her professional and unwavering spirit has helped Highland Park become the success it is today!

  • January Camper of the Month

Elle is a one-year-old Tree Walking Coonhound who never fails to put a smile on the face of any person she meets! She was rescued as a stray and then found a loving home with her new pup parents. Elle joined us a little less than a month ago but has fallen in love with camp. On her interview day, she was very nervous of the other pups and wasn’t sure of what to think. Fast forward a few weeks later, Elle can hardly wait for the staff to take off her leash and put her back in the play area! Elle has made lots of new furry friends here, including her fellow Coonhound look-alike, Conner! She likes to do zoomies and zig zags around the yard, while other pups follow in excitement! We love that Elle’s life had a positive turn around, and are so grateful that she put her trust in us after the rough times she has had. Elle is the perfect addition the pack and we are so thankful to have her has a part of our Camp Bow Wow family!

  • Simba

    January Member of the Month

Simba is a one-year-old Labrador mix who has tons of energy. Simba joined us last February and has been a 2 day per week member ever since. He always makes sure to give our morning staff a loving hello when he gets here and NEVER wants to leave when it’s time to go home. When mom comes to pick Simba up, he will stand in the hallway and jump on the play yard gate, sad to be leaving all his friends. During his time here, Simba has become quite the popular pup of the large dog yard, and his very best furry friend is Mace, the Bernadoodle! They romp and play the day away together, and always make sure to nap in the same corner together at lunch time. Simba is one of our campers that never fails to brighten up our day. Our staff gets so excited to see him and he always jumps up to give each one a kiss hello and goodbye. Simba is the most darling boy and makes our Camp Bow Wow pack whole!

  • Amanda

    January Counselor of the Month

Amanda is an absolute excellent camp counselor! She has 3 dogs of her own, including two Cane Corsos and an Australian Shepherd. Dogs are not only her first love, but a huge passion of hers. She is currently pursuing a dog training certificate and is working on her masters in dog training! Within the next year, Amanda will soon be another addition to our training program here at camp. She also does a multitude of different events and shows with her two corsos, Ebony and Vixen, who have won quite a few titles in their time! Amanda is one of our most driven employees, and just recently got promoted to shift supervisor! She is amazing with behavior modification, and is so good with helping each and every dog to get comfortable here at camp. She is so devoted to her job and gives the dogs her utmost trust and patience. We couldn't ask for much more than Amanda, as she already has everything we could ask for and more!

  • Finn

    December Camper of the Month

Finn is an Australian Shepherd who has a blast every time he is here for daycare! Finn first caught our attention on his interview day by his beautiful coloring. He has a brown and white dapple look to him and it makes him stand out in the play yard! Not only did he catch our eye by his unique looks, but Finn also has a very different personality than most pups. He is so well-rounded, playing so well with every dog, loving on every counselor, but also taking time to himself to snooze for his mid-day nap. Finn has made many friends during his time here, but he loves his fellow Australian Shepherd friend, Mocha! They play the day away and we love seeing how much fun they have together! Finn is by far one of the easiest going pups we have and we could not be happier to have him as a member of the pack!

  • Zoey

    December Member of the Month

Zoey is a soon to be one year old Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix who is the sweetest thing. Zoey joined us back in August and within a month she had become a 3 day per week member with enrichment sessions! Zoey has the most beautiful whitish blue eyes! They are so unique and she’s the first dog we’ve had with eyes that piercing! When Zoey first joined us, she was extremely shy and timid. She was very unsure of her surroundings and did not know how to feel about the other pups. Fast forward to now, she is so happy to be around our staff and loves getting cuddles/pets during her snuggle times! She even has warmed up to the other dogs, and willingly goes in the yard to play! We love to see when a shy dog warms up and ends up learning to love camp. Our staff strives to see when dogs break out of their shell and it is the most honoring feeling. So, thank you, Zoey, for trusting us here at East! Zoey is the perfect addition to the pack and we are so thankful to have here as a part of our Camp Bow Wow family!

  • Catey Lee

    December Counselor of the Month

    Catey Lee

Catey is a delight to have at camp. She hopes to one day have a German Shepherd of her own, in the meantime, she acts as the cool aunt to all the dogs at camp. She even bakes special cookies for the campers. If you’re dog comes to the Southwest Camp (Greentree), Catey most likely has told you something fun your dog did at camp that day. Catey truly appreciates her co-workers, but mostly she loves that the customers trust us with the beautiful furry souls. She spends her day making sure these dogs love coming to camp as much as she loves having them at camp. Catey has too many favorite campers to list. Included in her goals are to own a Dog Cafe and become a Dog Trainer.
