What Sets Camp Bow Wow Apart

Our overnight rate covers more than a place to sleep. Every boarding stay is all-inclusive: full-day play (Day Camp), an individual cabin with a cozy cot and fleece blanket, a nightly Campfire Treat™, and medication administration. It’s all bundled into one price. No add-on charges for the essentials, no surprises at checkout.

While your dog is at Camp, you don’t have to wonder how they’re doing. Live webcams are accessible from any computer or mobile device, so you can check in on your pup anytime, from anywhere. Our Certified Camp Counselors® manage open-play socialization across indoor and outdoor play areas, keeping the energy fun and the environment safe throughout the day.

Safety & Trust at Every Overnight Stay

Our Certified Camp Counselors® are trained in canine body language, Pet First Aid, and CPR. The facility is monitored continuously, and every dog goes through a Camper Interview before their first boarding stay. That screening process isn’t just for the new dog. It helps protect every Camper already in the playgroup by confirming each dog is a good fit for the group environment.

First-time boarders and cautious pet parents tend to weigh caregiver credentials heavily, and we think that’s exactly the right instinct. Our training standards and screening requirements exist because trust has to be earned, not assumed.

Camper Requirements Before the First Boarding Stay

Every dog at Camp Bow Wow goes through a Camper Interview before their first overnight stay. This free temperament evaluation confirms that each dog is a good match for the group play environment. Dogs of all breeds are welcome; the interview determines suitability, not eligibility by breed.

All boarding dogs must also be spayed or neutered. Required vaccinations before boarding are:

  • Rabies
  • DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis/Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus: four highly contagious diseases covered by one vaccine)
  • Bordetella

These requirements apply to every canine Camper. Vaccination and screening are standard practice for responsible group-play boarding, and we take both seriously.

Preparing for Drop-Off

We recommend dropping off before 4 pm so your dog has time to play, eat, and settle comfortably before bedtime. For pick-up, plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before closing. Any special dietary needs or medication instructions can be noted on your dog’s account at booking.

If your dog hasn’t visited before, a practice daycare visit ahead of the first overnight stay can help them get familiar with the play yards, individual cabins, and Camp Counselors.

Camp Facilities & Austin’s Year-Round Climate

Austin, TX summers regularly push into the high 90s, and our facilities are built with that in mind. Outdoor play areas include shade structures and water features to keep dogs comfortable during warm weather, while climate-controlled indoor play areas offer a cool alternative during peak heat or inclement weather. Austin’s mild winters mean outdoor play is available nearly year-round. It’s a real advantage for high-energy dogs that need consistent daily exercise.

Dog Boarding FAQs

Have questions? Camp Bow Wow is here to help!

  • Camp Bow Wow requires all boarding dogs to be up to date on their DHPP vaccine to keep them healthy and able to play safely with other dogs. It’s recommended that the Leptospirosis vaccine also be included annually, as it’s more common, can be deadly to dogs, and can spread to humans.

The DHPP vaccine protects against four serious and highly contagious diseases: Distemper, Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus. These illnesses can affect a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems, and can spread quickly between dogs, making vaccination important.

Puppies start the DHPP series at 6–8 weeks old, with two boosters given at 3-week intervals, followed by a third booster a year later. Adult dogs receive booster shots as recommended by their veterinarian, with the Distemper and Parvovirus portion typically given every 1–3 years.

In addition to the DHPP vaccine, the Rabies and Bordetella vaccines are also required for all boarding dogs at all our locations. For more information on our vaccine requirements for dog boarding, contact your local Camp Bow Wow.
