Meet The Owner
These guys spend all day at Day Camp, from early in the morning to late in the evening, watching over our campers. They are the ones who give out the special "Campfire" tasty treats each night before lights out, and tuck each camper into their own spacious, comfy and clean Camp Bow Wow® cabin. Where each cabin has a comfy bed to curl up on in a climate controlled atmosphere (sorry, no mint on the pillow). Campers from the same household can even stay together in the same cabin.
Camp owner and Top Dog, Stacey Copeland has created a 5,700 square-foot, state-of-the-art Camp with amenities guaranteed to get tails wagging and ears perking. The Camp has three large climate-controlled indoor play areas with adjoining outdoor play areas, giving campers the ability to roam inside or outside whenever they choose. All campers join a playgroup, assigned according to their temperament and activity level.
"One of the things we often forget is that dogs, just like people, are social animals," said Copeland. "Most of the pups that come to camp are ready to jump right into the fray, but there are always a few that are reticent to join in. That's one of the reasons our complimentary Interview Day is so important. It gives each Camper an opportunity to get to know the Counselors and other dogs at their own pace. It also gives the Counselors time to observe how each pup reacts to a new environment."
Copeland, an avid dog lover, has always dreamed of working with animals. Last year she retired from Microsoft after 15 years of service with the goal of opening her own doggy day care facility. She dusted off the business plan she'd put together three years ago and began the due diligence necessary to make her dream a reality. She found that Camp Bow Wow's all day play concept fit with her ideal. Since working with Camp Bow Wow, her understanding of dogs and the behavioral issues has changed. Her goal is to help puppy parents understand how their behavior affects the way their pups react. Copeland serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Tri-City Animal Shelter; the Board of Directors for her HOA and is also a Board Member with the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce. She's active in several Chambers including Duncanville, Cedar Hill and DeSoto and various networking groups in the area.
