Pugsly

Hi my name is Pugsley; I’m a Pug mix... about 95% PUG & 5 % Ugle! I’m really cute! I’m approximately 1 year old and 20#. I’m neutered and current with all my vaccinations. I am super sweet and so happy to meet any person, child or dog. I am currently being fostered at Camp Bow Wow in Westlake and I love every dog I meet!! I’m housebroken and crate trained (I’m crafty, and if you don’t put a clip on my crate-I’ll just unlatch it with my PUG-PAWS !) I need some work on lead, because I’m in a hurry to get everywhere HA! I’m a smart little guy, so I’ll learn whatever you teach me - I just need someone to take the time - obedience class would be fabulous! I have your typical young dog energy, so I need an active owner -a fence and a doggie playmate would be a dream come true for me! We are looking for a local adoption within 35 miles of Avon Lake, due to our limited resources, home visit requirement, trial adoption process and local vet clinic. If you are interested in learning more about me, please contact Connie at connie_field@yahoo.com and she will send you an applications, so we can learn a little bit about you to make sure I would be a perfect match for you and your family.

Nala

My name is Nala and I’m a 4 month old female Shiba Inu. My family got me from a pet store when I was just 8 weeks old and they really did not know how demanding a puppy can be. Not to mention my breed has some demands of its own HA! I’m current with vaccinations and will be spayed at 5 months of age. I am crate trained and actually very good in my crate, quiet and relaxed. I do however require a lot of exercise and stimulation because Shiba Inus are so very smart. I need an owner that is familiar with my breed and has the time to take me to obedience class, so I can be the best Shiba Inu in town. I’m so darn cute it works against me because I look like a little Koala Bear that you just want to HUG - but I need a lot more then HUGS ! I’m looking for a local adoption within a 35 mile radius of Avon Lake, due to our home visit requirement, trial adoption process and local clinic that honors our free spay certificate with adoption-no exceptions please. A a fenced in yard would really be a bonus ! I like other dogs but I’m way too interested in cats - just enough to really annoy them - so a cat-less home is needed . If you are interested in learning more about me please contact my friend Connie at connie_field@yahoo.com She will send you an application so we can learn a little about you too.

Calli (Adopted January 2010)

My name is Calli and I’m a sweet little girl that loves dogs, cats and everyone I meet. I’m young, not quite a year old. I’m looking for a new home where someone has time to spend with me and will teach me all my commands. I’m very smart and loving. I’m completely vetted, I do know how to sit and I’m housebroken. I had an injury to my back leg when I was a pup - it was fractured and just healed on its own - so I do have a little limp when I walk, but believe me - it does not slow me down AT ALL HA! I’m only about 36#, so full grown I’ll be a “small” girl. I’m going to make someone a wonderful companion.I am currently being fostered at Camp Bow Wow and I am having a GREAT time with all my friends! Please contact Lina at seaczar14@yahoo.com if you are interested in receiving an application. We like to learn a little about you to make sure I will be a PERFECT match

Jack has had obedience training and knows all of his commands and walks well with a gentle leader. Jack is young; about 2 years old, he is crate trained and housebroken. Jack is good with dogs and kids but not so good with cats, so we are looking for a cat-less home for Jack. He is about 45 # and just an all around great dog! Tyson (adopted October 2009)

Doogie Houser (Adopted September 2009)

My name is Doogie Houser. I'm about 1.5 years old. and 50#. A nice lady found me wandering the streets of Lorain, skin and bones, very scared and in need of lots of food and love. I have had such a tough start in life but lucky for me Love-A-Stray came along and rescued me, so I would not end up at the POUND! I have gained some weight, been completely vetted and tested heartworm negative. I just want a home where I can feel safe and be your best friend. I’m not sure where I belong so I'm a bit insecure. I'm doing so much better now gaining confidence and understanding what is expected of me. I’m great with other dogs and a trainer has taught me my basic commands and I’m housebroken and crate trained too.

Guinness (Adopted August 2009)

My name is Guinness! I was found in Avon Lake as a stray.  I am a Spaniel Lab mix about 8 months old and 45 pounds. Love-A-Stray just had me completely vetted and I tested negative for heartworm. I am very sweet and loving. I’m housebroken and crate trained too. Being a "sporting breed mix" I need to find a home with an active family and I would really love a fenced in yard so I can run and play. If you are interested in learning more about me, please ask at camp or contact Connie at connie_field@yahoo.com

Jud (Adopted July 2009)

Jud has been adopted by wonderful family and is enjoying life in a home of his own!

My name is Jud! I am a pure bred bloodhound about a year old. I am neutered and up to date on all my vaccines. I love to play with all the other dogs at camp and I also love to lean on the camp counselors waiting for an ear rub. I would love a home with a fenced yard and hound experience. I know my basic commands but I need a little help with walking on a leash...I can't seem to help following my nose! I am currently being fostered at Camp Bow Wow. For more information about me contact my friends here at Camp and don't forget to watch me on the camper cams!

Hogan (Adopted June 2009)

Hogan was adoped in June by a local family that was thrilled to add him to their home!

Hi my name is Hogan - I was abandoned in Avon Lake - I was picked up by a nice Police Officer before I got hit by a car!! It is so sad that people just turn their dogs loose and don't even give them a chance to find a new home without almost getting run over! Anyway enough about my sad wows ...Love-A-Stray has me now and they took me to the vet and had me completely vaccinated and I tested negative for heartworm - I'm already neutered. I'm a very cute and loving boy about 3 years old & 35#. I look like a Shepherd/ Shar Pei mix. I walk well on lead - like to walk with other dogs and you have not lived until you see me play ball - I might be part CAT the way I use my front paws! I have not been exposed to an actual cats yet, so I'm not sure if I should say - cat friendly? I know basic commands, and I just love every volunteer I have met - young or old. I am now being fostered at Camp Bow Wow and I'm doing GREAT! I love playing with all my pals. I'm a great little guy in need of a new home. If you are interested in me, please contact Connie at connie_field@yahoo.com Visit our website for a complete list of available dogs and upcoming events www.love-a-stray.petfinder.com Thanks!

Bingo (Adopted May 2009)

Bingo left Camp Bow Wow in April and moved into a foster home. He was then adopted by a great family and finally has a home to call his own!

Hi my name is Bingo, I am a beautiful Flat Coated Retriever mix. I was found as a stray in Avon Lake, and no one has claimed me. I am a wonderful boy. My new friends at Love-A-Stray just had me completely vetted including neuter - I am heartworm negative too. I'm just under a year old and currently "under weight" - about 45#. I love to ride in the car and believe it or not, I really love to get a BATH. My friend Mike took me to the "dog wash" and all I did was try to lick his face - even the blow dryers didn't bother me. I’m hoping to find a family with some retriever experience as we love water and love to fetch. I’m great with other dogs too. As most young retrievers ...I do have "energy" so a fenced in yard or an active family with a dog playmate would be best for me. I have not met any cats so I’ll plead the 5th on that subject! I know basic commands like "sit" but do need some obedience training, again as most young retrievers do ! Bingo is currently in a foster home but he had a great time at Camp Bow Wow while he was here!

Emily (Adopted May 2009)

Emily was adopted in May by a wonderful family from Michigan! We miss her here at camp but we are very happy she has a fantastic home!

Emily is a spayed female bluetick up for adoption from Love-A-Stray. Emily is great with other dogs and loves people. She is about 5 years old, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. A home without cats is best as she does enjoy to chase them. Emily is staying here at Camp and is having a great time! Check her out on our camper cams playing will all of the other campers!

A Note From Emily:

I just want to let you know that I’m loving my new family!  The adjustment has taken a few days, but I have learned to trust and love my new family.  I have lots of room with a huge yard to play.  I have already learned my boundaries in the yard.  It’s really cool ‘cause I can run and play with the kids or just lay out in the middle of the yard and sun myself.  I have my own space in the house . . . it’s a crate with my own pillow and a few chew toys in it.  I like to go there when I need to rest or go to sleep at night.  I am learning to walk on a leash better and we go for walks so I can practice.  I am also practicing come, sit and stay.  I like to show off all the new things I’m learning and doing!

I also have two new friends Sable the cat, which she doesn’t like to play too much, but we’re getting a long; and Erma a DalmatianThere are many other dogs in our neighborhood that I walk with or talk too as well.

It’s a rainy morning here, so I think I’ll take a nap.  I had a busy weekend . . . I chased the kites the kids were flying!  What fun!  I’ll send pictures soon . . .

Love,
Emily
