About Camp Bow Wow Midland Park

Happy Dogs
…that’s what we do! Hi, I’m Mike Monks, the owner of Camp Bow Wow in Midland Park. After seeing my dog, Keller, leap for joy to go to doggy day camp, I couldn’t wait to open up my own. If you’ve been searching for a place where your dog can play with other dogs under the constant supervision of caring, trained people, you’ve found it. As you will see below, we are the un-kennel in every way.
The Camp
Whether your dog is staying for the day or for overnight, tell your best buddy to get ready for some fun.
- Climate controlled inside play areas We have several, so we can match your dog to a group that fits his or her size and energy.
- Rugged outside play areas where your dog will discover our agility equipment and paw pools.
- Camper cams give you a live action, high speed peek at your pup with only a few mouse clicks.
- Trained, caring camp counselors just like you may remember from your camp days; our counselors have a genuine love for our campers. They are trained in canine behavior, health, and first aid.
Say goodbye to those worries about sleeping away from home.
- Play all day, snooze the night away - with all the activity during the day, your dog will look forward to kicking up those paws for a good night’s rest.
- Private cabin - each camper bunks in a roomy private cabin. Oversized cabins accommodate campers with siblings staying, too.
- Comfy cot - who could refuse a soft blanket on a cuddly cot. I’m feeling sleepy already.
- Campfire treat - a great way to end the day and start those sweet doggy dreams.
- Comforts of home - did you pack a backpack? Great! Your dog’s favorite items from home will mean a lot while away.
Want to Come to Camp?
You are welcome to come for a tour any time we are open - no appointment needed. But please don't bring your dog! We need your dog's first visit be by appointment - the doggy interview.
We also need your dog to pass the doggy interview before we can make a reservation. Please be aware that we do run out of space for overnight boarding whenever the schools are closed (holidays, summer time, etc). If you need your dog to stay with us, please call us to make arrangements for your dog's interview.
The Interview
The interview requires about 30 minutes of your time, or longer if you've got more than one dog. We need your dog to stay with us for at least three hours. Your dog can be our guest as long as you like the day of the interview free of charge. Please plan to pick up your dog before we close for the day.
Interviews are done by appointment only. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday as early as 7am and as late as 3pm. During your interview, we will inspect your dog's vaccination records. It is not possible to complete the interview without vaccination records.
We are happy to show you where the dogs hang out while you are here for the interview.
Requirements
In order to come for the interview or for any visit, your dog must meet our requirements:
- Must be at least four months old
- Must be spayed or neutered if over six months old
- Must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper
- Last Bordetella vaccination no more than six months ago
- Must have some kind of flea and tick prevention
- Must be free of contagious disease
- Must pass the doggy interview
In order to comply with Camp Bow Wow Headquarters and for insurance purposes, we can not accept any dogs considered to be Pit Bulls.
Bordetella
The manufacturers of Bordetella vaccine indicate it should be renewed every 6 to 12 months depending on level of exposure. We require Bordetella vaccine to be renewed EVERY 6 MONTHS, regardless of it was injected or intranasal, regardless of your veterinarian's policy.
Your vet may remind you to get Bordetella updated annually. We regret we can not compromise our policy for any camper. Because of this, we need to know when your dog received Bordetella vaccine, not when it should be renewed.
Bordetella takes time to produce the immune response in your dog. Because of this, WE REQUIRE A WAITING PERIOD AFTER RECEIVING BORDETELLA VACCINE BEFORE COMING TO CAMP. We require a waiting period of three days for the intranasal administration and 10 days for the injectable administration.
Neuter/Spay
While we share the obvious concern about reproduction, this requirement has a lot more do to about keeping our campers on their best behavior. Dogs that are intact smell different than spayed or neutered dogs. This smell can not be detected by humans but is very obvious to other dogs. It brings out all the competative instincts of other dogs, which can be very dangerous in our open play environment.
While we understand you may not want to spay or neuter your dog, we do not accept dogs more than six months old who are not spayed or neutered.
