A note to Camp Bow Wow...

Barrow & Nukka Sklar

Camp Bow Wow,

My little sister Nukka and I love coming to camp!  Your counselors are so much fun!  Not only do they love us, they have a special bond with us huskies.  We get super excited when Mom or Dad puts us in the car to take us to camp.  They even gave us an AWESOME bath which we know was not too easy;)  We still smell good!  My mom gets really nervous about leaving us with other people (what can I say?  We are huskies) but she trusts Camp Bow Wow.  She told me that she felt comfortable the minute she walked in.  That is saying a lot because my mom is a worry wart!  Thanks Camp Bow Wow for giving Nukka and I a place to run off all the energy we have.  We can't wait to see you!

Madison Rae Hahn

Hi There McHenry Camp Bow Wow -

I just wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoy coming every Wednesday for Doggie Day Care.

My mom was all concerned because I'm so small - only 6 lbs., but you've made sure I'm always safe and hang out with dogs my size.

I am always spoiled and look forward to coming every week.

Thanks for all the special treatment!!  I know my mom appreciates it too.

XOXO

Riley Aldape

My name is Riley and I first came into Camp Bow Wow as a puppy. I was very shy and nervous. On my first day there I stayed in my own corner and did not play with anyone. Afterall, I was in a new place with so many dogs I had never seen before. My mom and dad were unsure if I would ever find my place here at camp. Kari encouraged them to keep bringing me back even though I still seemed nervous. After a week, I realized that there were so many friendly dogs to play with here and the people who take care of me here are just like mom and dad at home- they love me and most of all they love to play with me here. Now everytime I hear the word 'camp' I jump around the house waiting excitedly to get in the car and see all my friends at Camp Bow Wow! Mom and Dad couldn't be happier and would never send me anywhere else knowing that this place is a home away from home for me.

Willie "The Welsh Terrier" Lansing

Dear Camp Bow Wow,

I just wanted to thank you for all of the fun I had at Camp Bow Wow on my interview day. I really liked getting to play with all of the other dogs. I told my mom and dad that the beds were comfy. I even liked getting my bath. I told my mom and dad that I am looking forward to going to camp, right after I take a few extra naps to get my energy back. See you soon.

Willie

Kona & Bishop Kluth

Hello Counselors!!!

First of all, we cannot thank you enough for taking care of Kona and Bishop while we are away getting MARRIED!!!  We will be sure to bring in lots of pictures when we have them.  We looked at a few different kennels and were terrified to leave our most precious possessions in a dingy, concrete run for 23.75 hours a day with no other contact to other dogs other than the constant barking from all of them.  Plus no exercise except for a 15 minute walk once a day that was extra money!!!  Totally un-acceptable in our book.

And then we found all you wonderful people here at Camp Bow-Wow!  We are so glad that we were able to be far enough out to let them stay 4 times and become more comfortable there as well.  Rather than just picking a day and then dropping them off there for 2 weeks and them not being good campers cause they were scared.  All of you have been so wonderful to our dogs that every time we come there now they literally drag us in!

In order to help you all out feeding Kona and Bishop, we listed for you what they get and when on the next page.  We also dropped off the emergency contact information the last time we visited.  He is a close fried of ours so there won't be any problem if (God forbid) there is a problem.  So to all of you THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!  We will be checking in every once in a while on the web cams to make sure they aren't giving you all a hard time, but other than that we will see you when we pick them up!

Sincerely,

Doug and (by the time we get back) Kate Kluth

Abbott & Stella Rayl

Dear Camp Bow Wow --

I just wanted to drop you a note and say thanks for taking such good care of our puppies, Abbott and Stella. I believe in all the years we have had dogs and cats I have never felt more comfortable in leaving them when we went away. In fact I think they enjoyed themselves so much they might not have missed us. That does not do much for the ego. Your attention to the details that make this such a good place for the dogs shows. You facility is spotless, your provision for taking care of the little special items (Abbott's eyes had even been wiped off), and the fact that it is obvious that everyone that works at Camp Bow Wow loves dogs.... it all shows. They are looking forward to their next stay in May.

Thanks Again,

Chris and Liz Rayl

Lucy Gentry

Hi my name is Lucy. My parents say I was named after Lucille Ball since I was such a funny little girl. But when I hurt my neck a few months ago it was no joke. I just woke up one day and couldn’t really look left or right which made getting around kind of hard. My parents were pretty concerned and took me to the Vet who said I had to have strict cage rest for the next 6 weeks or I might have to have a $4000 surgery on my neck!!!! What’s a girl to do? That meant no playing with my brothers, or running in the back yard or jumping onto my favorite couch (not that I could at the time).

A few days after my injury occurred, my mom had a baby and was in the hospital. So daddy sent me and my 2 brothers to Camp Bow Wow. We needed a place to stay until they came home and they were concerned on how to care for me.  I was feeling pretty awful, even with the pain pills the Vet gave me. I got the red carpet treatment as soon as I arrived at Camp Bow Wow. I made my temporary home in the Little Dog Lounge. I wasn’t allowed to play with my brothers or friends at camp, so I had the lounge all to myself. Kari, she’s in charge at Camp, let me keep my own special bed and cage in there and I was carried out in my cage to go on potty breaks to make sure not to hurt my neck. I spent my days relaxing in all the beds available to me, and I tried them all out! I was the first to greet all the visitors that came to check out Camp Bow Wow as they all walk by the Little Dog Lounge when they first come in. Every day several of the Camp Counselors would come in and lay down with me and give me tons of hugs and kisses which really made me feel good, especially with my neck hurting so bad. Eventually my brothers went back home. Kari said I was doing really well at Camp, so mom and dad decided to let me stay a little longer so I could heal completely (they couldn’t take the chance of me hurting my neck again with all the excitement at home with my new baby sister). After a few weeks at Camp Bow Wow I was running around and having fun again!  And when I finally came home I was back to my old self, no surgery required! I missed home, but I’ll really miss Camp Bow Wow and all the great friends I made. I plan on visiting again soon!

Marley David

I want to thank you for Marley.  He had a great day at Camp Bow Wow.  Your description on his Camper of the Week was him to a "T".  He is napping while he waits for his dad to come home. Thank you again for everything. I love to take him there where he does have a dog gone good time.

Callie Chaney

I checked on her on the cam and she looked like she was  having a great time with a new friend.

You guys are great but could you tone it down a little?!  She almost hates to come home. I had to change the route we usually walk on because if we go past Bowwow she wants to go in!!

Sasha Carlson

From Sasha's Mom, Karin:

I'm attaching a picture of what she looked like after returning home from her last time at Camp...she was EXHAUSTED from all the fun she had (and didn't seem to mind being half off her bed)!  hahaha...

Whenever she sees luggage out, she gets all excited, knowing that soon she'll be off to Camp while mom is away!  She can't sit still in the car either...I swear she just "knows" where she's going.  Thanks for making her time at Camp so much fun...I know that she is well taken care of and having a fun time playing.  She always comes home happy but totally ready to crash...guess that's what too much fun will do to a little dog!

(The top picture is Sasha enjoying her belly rub during her stay at Camp.)
