Kennel Cough Update and Information:
It is that time of the year again when Kennel Cough is more prevalent. The change of seasons can cause dormant cells to activate. Kennel Cough (Bordetella) can be contracted in a variety of settings including Pet stores, Veterinary Clinics, Doggy Daycares/boarding kennels, and dog parks to name a few. Unfortunately, the Bordetella vaccine only protects against some of the hundreds of potential viruses and does not always protect against all of the strains (Similar to the human flu vaccine). Although we do require all dogs to have the vaccine every 6 months, not all dogs will be protected against all strains. Please be sure your vaccine is up to date prior to attending daycare.
Camp Bow Wow LoDo has no Kennel Cough problems.
If your dog begins to show signs of a coughing (or gagging as to vomit), sneezing, low appetite, or runny nose, please avoid daycare and public places with your pet as it is highly contagious. If your dog shows any of these symptoms please see your veterinarian as soon as possible. Dogs may return to daycare 7 days after the cough has ended completely.
We thank you for your business, understanding and consideration and know that we will always keep you informed about such important issues.
