Bow Wow Buddies

Hi, my name is Daisy and I am an absolutely gorgeous 1 year old, 49 lb, Shepherd mix. I was brought to MaxFund as a stray with my pal Rascal and my owner never came in to claim us. That really saddens me, but I know that MaxFund will find a secure and loving forever home for me. So now I am excited to start a new chapter in my life....would that be with you, hmmmmmm????

I love to go for my daily walks or jogs. My leash manners are flawless, although due to my excitement about going outside, I may pull at first. After my excitement quickly subsides, I have been told I am a joy to walk with! When I go outside, I concentrate on my walks with one of the great volunteers and enjoy the fresh air. Common to dogs of my breed, it is important that I get daily exercise and live in a home where the family is active. I am alittle nervous at first with strangers, but I quickly warm up as soon as the people show me kindness and treats...yeah, treats are good, heh, heh!!

I love attention and am very affectionate. As with most Shepherds, I am very smart and for starters I can sit on command!! I am eager to learn new commands and tasks. I look forward to someone teaching me how to fetch, play Frisbee and maybe tennis...heh, heh, just testing to see if I still have your attention. If I still do have your attention, and why wouldn't I....then we must meet!!

I am looking for an energetic home with lots of love where I can return the affection. I hope to see you soon so that we can decide if we are a good fit....if so...we will live happily ever after in our forever home!!

Hi there! I am a 49 lb medium-sized Rottweiler mix and am 1-2 years old. My name is Romeo. One of the volunteers keeps saying to me “wherefore art thou Romeo?” I think this is a bit strange because I am right there in front of her! To this she replies that I must be no fan of Shakespeare. Oh well - it takes all sorts and I am a very friendly dog who certainly appreciates her attention, even if her conversation is limited. I am energetic and I love walks, playtime, and I am sure that I would enjoy accompanying you on any outing that you might like! After the initial excitement of getting outside, I walk well on a leash while appreciating all the interesting aromas along the way. I was relinquished to another shelter before being transferred to MaxFund because I jumped up on the young’un in the family when we went outside. This is because I am a high spirited young dog and not in any way because I want to hurt anyone.

Even though I have had no formal training I am quick-witted and very responsive to reward-based training methods. When I realized a treat was forthcoming when asked to sit I was very diligent about sitting! I have been told that positive reinforcement training would also help me understand that I am not meant to jump up when I get excited. However, jumping is really fun and so a 6 foot fence around my yard may be necessary to keep me safe!
I am, of course, housetrained. I can get along with cats and other well mannered dogs. However, I probably would not be safe to have around rabbits and other small furry animals. Since I am quite boisterous I would likely be a better match for a family with older children – perhaps those over 10 years old

Update: I am now at a terrific day care camp as a resident foster dog. Woo Hoo! Please come visit me at Camp Bow Wow Southeast Denver located at 2125 South Jasmine St. You can also call up the camp and ask them to put me on the camper cam so you can see me in action online! Their number is 303-300-8284. The nice people at Camp Bow Wow are helping give me a break from living at the shelter. They would love to see me find my forever home. Is it with you?

If you were to look up the word well rounded in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Midge!  She has every quality that any dog lover would want in a dog.  She is the most lovable furry four-legged animal out there!  Her new family must love kisses, tail wagging excitement and appreciate the true unconditional love that Midge gives. Midge is a young pup, less than a year old. As a Labrador/German Shepherd mix, she is very loyal, loving, and playful.

She is definitely a lab at heart because she loves acting goofy and playful and she doesn’t have an enemy in the world.  She gets along with any kind of dog and she loves kids too.  She is energetic and plays really well but can also just lounge around with the family for some mellow downtime.

She is potty trained and also loves her kennel for sleep time and doesn’t mind being crated when her forever family is away.  She is very smart and knows basic commands and is eager to learn a lot more.

Midge is responding VERY fast to leash training on her walks and she is just so polite.  She loves to walk and will be an AMAZING walking partner! She is polite and gentle around children and absolutely adores other people. She is also friendly with other dogs, and is currently being fostered at Camp Bow Wow Southeast with fellow canine companions.
