NEWS: January Newsletter!

Love FREE Days of Camp?

During the months of January and February we’re doing a special re-FUR-al program to thank all our wonderful customers who have helped us grow our business through referrals! For each re-fur-al that becomes a paying customer by February 29th you receive 2 FREE days of Day Camp for your pup AND the friend you referred gets a FREE day too (after their initial interview). Who wouldn’t love FREE days of Camp? Next time you’re at Camp during January and February make sure to ask about this special re-fur-al program!

Camper of the Month - Dunkin

No need for coffee to go with this Month's Camper - he's perfect as is and sweeter than any sugar-dusted, custard-filled, chocolate-iced concoction at Dunkin' Donuts!  Our Dunkin is a playful, sweet one-year old black lab puppy who loves cuddling on a lap as much as playing with his buddies at Camp.  Plus...no calories!  Only fat-free love, love, love!

Favorite game: chase (mom chasing Dunkin!)

Favorite toy: squeaky stuffed cow

Dislikes: being left alone

When not at Camp, you can find him: at the lake or dragging mom on a run

Certified Camp Counselor of the Month - Bobby

This month's counselor has as much energy as our pups.  When he's not romping around with campers here, he loves to snowboard and practice jiujitsu, though not simultaneously (well, maybe if the lift lines get bad enough!).

Bobby's a Colorado native who moved to Hawaii as a kid and back again to the Boulder area recently for school.  He has a chocolate lab at home in Hawaii so loves getting his puppy love here at Camp!

Bow Wow Buddies Foundation Update: Camp Bow Wow partners with Freedom Service Dogs for Operation Freedom Tail

Recently Camp Bow Wow partnered with Freedom Service Dogs, a philanthropic organization that trains shelter dogs to become service dogs for war veterans with disabilities, to launch our “Operation Freedom Tail” initiative. Our Colorado franchises are combining their efforts to raise enough funds to pay for the training of a service dog which will be paired with a Colorado-based disabled Veteran.

Freedom Service Dogs works exclusively with shelter dogs, therefore giving second chances to both the dog and its Veteran partner. With the increase in number of Veterans returning home from overseas, and an estimated 5.5 million Veterans with disabilities in the United States, there is a growing need for Service Dogs.

The initiative launched December 1, 2011 and will continue until April 15, 2012. We are already off to a great start raising money and are accepting cash donations via our Bow Wow Buddies Foundation website www.bowwowbuddies.com or at any of our Colorado Camp Bow Wow locations. In order to help reach our goal The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation will also be matching funds dollar-to-dollar up to $10,000 of the total funds raised. We are very excited about this initiative and can’t wait to see how both the shelter dog’s and war Veteran’s lives are changed for the better.

Furry Regards,

Fun Fact about Camp Bow Wow: Our Camps have outdoor play areas

Why is it so important that dogs have outdoor play time as well as indoor play time at Camp? In addition to socializing with the other dogs while at Camp, having the ability to romp around in our indoor and outdoor play yards also helps with their mental and physical stimulation.

Dogs are similar to humans in the sense that they get bored if there isn’t a change in their surroundings. Being able to choose from playing in our indoor and outdoor play areas provides dogs the change in environment they need. It is natural for dogs to be outdoors because it helps them get the exercise they need, and the changing sounds and smells provide a way to keep their mind alert and active.

At Camp Bow Wow you can be assured that your dog gets adequate indoor and outdoor playtime at their choosing, and will be exhausted at the end of the day from the endless amount of fun they had at Camp. Outdoor play yards help us maintain our motto of “All day play, snooze the night away®”.
