Don't Shop for Pets, Adopt A Pound Pup!

Did You Know?

  • 5 – 7 MILLION companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats)

  •  25% of dogs in shelters are purebreds

  • Only 10% of the animals received by shelters have been spayed or neutered.
  • 5 out of 10 dogs in the shelters and 7 out of 10 cats in shelters are destroyed simply because there is no one to adopt them
    (Reference from ASPCA)

  • Anytime you purchase a pet from a breeder or pet store, you are taking away a home from a loving animal in a shelter that already needs a home and will be euthanized if not adopted in a certain time period (time periods vary depending on shelters.)

Spay & Neuter Your Pets!

  • "Spaying" is a general term used to describe the ovariohysterectomy of a female animal. Neutering is a general term used to describe the castration of a male animal. The term “neuter” can be used for both genders.
  • There is an overpopulation of dogs and cats that shelters cannot find homes for, having your pet spayed or neutered ensures that you will not be adding to the overpopulation of pets
  • Spaying or neutering your pet will help your dog or cat live a happier, healthier, and longer life. Spaying eliminates the constant crying and nervous pacing that is a sign that a cat is in heat. Castration stops the mating drive in males, reducing the urge to roam, which in turn, reduces the risk of fights, injury, poisoning, accidents, and contracting diseases. If you have more than one pet in your household, all the pets will get along better if they are neutered.
  • A long-term benefit of neutering is improved health. Early neutering nearly eliminates breast cancer, and totally prevents uterine infections and testicular cancer.
  • Spaying and neutering is the only form of birth control for animals. Spaying and neutering is the only way to end the overpopulation of pets.
