About Us

Our Team

Camp Bow Wow® Monument offers dog day care and overnight boarding and our highly-trained staff is dog gone passionate about providing safe, fun and individualized care for your four-legged family members.

We are so happy to be a part of the Monument community and have gotten to know many wonderful pets (and their parents!) since we opened. Our whole staff would like to thank all our customers for letting us have, as we say, a 'Dog Gone Good' Time!

We think we are the best Camp Counselors your pup could have! Everyone on staff is a SERIOUS dog lover, with practical training in dog behavior certifications in pet first aid and dog CPR. All of us are eager to meet and greet you and your best canine buddy. Collectively we have many years of experience with dogs, and we promise to take the best possible care of your furry friends.

We spend all day at Day Camp, from early in the morning to late in the evening, watching over your Campers. We are the ones who give out the special Campfire TreatsTM each night before lights out, and tuck each Camper into their own spacious, comfy and clean Cabin.

We pride ourselves on getting to know your pup’s name, who their friends are, and just where they like to be scratched. We will take special care of your furry kids and make sure they have a PAW-some time at Camp. We look forward to meeting you and your furry friends!

Deanna Drury

Years Open: 2005

Deanna Drury, a local girl, grew up in the Tri-Lakes area and graduated from Lewis Palmer High School. She remembers living in Canterbury going trick-or-treating on horseback as a kid. Deanna’s life went to the dogs in 2011 when she became the owner of Camp Bow Wow Monument, a local doggy day care and boarding facility. Currently employing 14 people, Camp Bow Wow Monument is one of CBW’s leading camps in the system for customer retention. Prior to her “ruff” life, Deanna was Executive Director for Metro Broker’s Inc., and Vice President of Marketing for Special Olympics Colorado. A proud Buff and Alumni of the University of Colorado, Deanna earned her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Marketing.

Camp Bow Wow was started over 15 years ago by another local gal -- Heidi Ganahl (maiden name Haight). Deanna was by her friend’s side when Heidi opened her first camp in Denver (Camp Bow Wow has since grown to 120 camps and is the country’s fastest growing pet industry franchise). When the Monument Camp became available for resale, it initially opened in 2005, Deanna and Heidi thought it must be fate and Deanna purchased the camp in 2011 bringing her back home to Monument.

Deanna says, “She loves the concept of Camp Bow Wow – “where a dog can be a dog”.  Camp Bow Wow was one of the first to buck the traditional kennel model and hosts open play in supervised play yards.  When it first started there were so many people skeptical of dogs being in an open play environment together and yet it works so well – dogs are pack animals and most dogs want to be in a pack environment. We understand that a pet parent can be nervous about leaving their dog in someone else’s care and so our priority is to provide a fun experience for our campers but more importantly a safe environment. Our supervisors are trained in dog behavior and certified in pet first aid and CPR. We also provide webcams for our clients to check in on their four legged family members.” (Camp Bow Wow was the first pet facility in the country to offer web cams.)

Camp Bow Wow Monument is a member of the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce and fosters dogs for the Black Forest Animal Sanctuary, Mile High Husky Rescue, RezDawg Rescue, Waggin Tail Canine Rescue and North Star Husky Rescue.

What I love most about my job: Seeing the dogs pull their parents through the door because they can't wait to play!
Our dogs: Zannadoo

Position: Manager
Years with Camp Bow Wow: 9

Most of you have probably met Leona, as she has been with us at Camp since 2006 when she started as a Camp Counselor. Leona is a "home grown Monument native", as she puts it, and loves the outdoors, camping, hiking, and crafts.  Her own pack at home consists of Kira the Husky, Kiffi the Boxer and her hedgehogs.

Recently, she graduated from Animal Behavior Institute with her degree in Canine Behavior and Training and Canine Nutrition; and, Leona has been doing an internship with a Canine Behaviorist.

When she is not at work you can usually find her working with rescues organizations and shelters helping less fortunate dogs find there forever family. Possessing a true passion for animals, even the shyest dogs at camp gain comfort quickly with Leona -- she thinks of the dogs at camp as much as her family as her dogs at home. She is currently pursuing more in education in animal behavior; continuing to work with animals and hoping to one day start a Sanctuary for animals!
