Meet the Trainers
Hi, I'm Marcy! My desire to help others and my lifelong passion for dogs has united through dog training. I love what I do! My life is dedicated to helping families have the best relationship possible with their canine companions. We will work together to teach your dog rewardable behaviors using positive techniques.
Here’s a little about me… I grew up in Pennsylvania with many different types of pets – dogs, parrots, bunnies, fish and frogs. They taught me many things but most importantly, unconditional love and responsibility! After completing undergraduate studies in IT / Statistics, graduate studies in Project Management / MBA and working full time for a few years, I realized that I was happiest when I was spending my free time with pets. My dog, Bailey, and I loved being therapy dog volunteers when we visited nursing homes, hospitals and elementary schools. After my husband and I moved to San Diego, I began walking dogs but wanted to do more to help the dogs and pet parents who were having trouble communicating with each other. After I connected with Camp Bow Wow and Home Buddies, the rest is history! I truly enjoy helping families improve their relationships with their dogs using rewardable behaviors, consistency and clear communication. Currently, my husband and I live with our three dogs and I love being part of Home Buddies and Behavior Buddies. I feel lucky to work with such a dedicated, hard-working and pet-loving team!
Meet Jennifer! Jennifer is our most recent addition to Behavior Buddies pack! Her love for animals is reflected in her everyday life as a groomer and now as a dog trainer. With over 13 years of pet experience under her belt, Jennifer truly enjoys helping pets become confident and happy members of their families using positive techniques. She and her husband (who also works with animals) have three pets of their own: Junior (an 11 year old husky-akita mix), Bugzy (an 11.5 year old english bulldog), and last but not least the queen of the castle – Zelda, their 9 year old tortoiseshell cat. When Jennifer is not working with pets, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the movies and traveling.
The Trainers' Training
Marcy received her training from some of the “top dogs” in the country including Nick Fisher and Balanced Dog, Aimee Sadler and the Longmont Humane Society Behavior and Training Team and last but certainly not least, Laura Roach. Jennifer also received her training from Laura Roach at Camp Bow Wow corporate "houndquarters" in Broomfield, Colorado.
Marcy has volunteered locally with Helen Woodward Animal Center, the Animal Farm Foundation “Pit Bull” rescue and Naval Medical Center Balboa. Currently, she is a Pet First Aid and CPR instructor for the San Diego American Red Cross as well as service dog trainer and puppy raiser with San Diego-based service and therapy dog organization, Paws’itive Teams. She also had the opportunity to attend the 2011 Assistance Dogs International conference with host, Suzanne Clothier, who launched C.A.R.A.T. dog temperament evaluations, as well as Dr. Ian Dunbar's seminar on social behavior and treatment of fearfulness, reactivity, and aggression. Marcy loves to learn as the field of dog training continues to grow and change, not only from the “experts” but from her canine and human clients as well. There’s something to be learned from everyone!
